Compilations are not albums?

Anyways, if the guy does not know his funk, compilations might be the best way to sample the sound of more than ONE band.

I can especially recommend the Mastercuts Classic P-Funk compilation, as Prince stole some things from certain songs featured on that album, which is fun. It also contains loads of songs Prince bopped his head to, I am sure.

Now stop whining.

Thumparello

Wild their are so many!

All the Prince lps up to Sign of the Times. Then things started getting too weak to recommend.

All the Parliament and Funkadelic albums.
All the 60's and early 70's Sly and the Family Stone
All the James Brown 60-70's, JB's, Horny Horn lps.
All the lps by Bootsy except What's Bootsy Doin? and Play Wit Bootsy
Street Songs by Rick James
All the 80's Gap Band lps
All the 70's lps by the Ohio Players
All the lps by Earth, Wind and Fire up to Let's Groove.

The Zapp and Roger lps.

The two most recommended for modern day funking-----Mothership Connection and 1999. These two lps revolutionized new funk sounds and eras.
