Marlena Shaw 2 Make A Comeback?

MARLENA SHAW IS BACK: Legendary Songstress To Play The National Mall July Fourth

(Jun. 25, 2004) It is SHAW time on July 4th at The National Mall in Washington, DC where Marlena Shaw will be performing at the Nations’ Capitol with the United States Army Blues Band.

Known for her “ageless performance of working herself into a froth” … Marlena will certainly accomplish this with a 45 minute captivating show utilizing a repertoire that will surely fit the occasion. In addition to her rendition of “America The Beautiful” which surely will be in competition with the fireworks scheduled…

Musically… Marlena’s … “Lookin’ for Love”newly released CD on 441 Records, contains a variation of songs from the past with a special treatment only she is known to give. “Hope in a Hopeless World”, “Everything Must Change”, “Here’s To Life” and “What A Wonderful World” are only a few selections that denotes the positive energy that is needed in today’s world.

An entertainer personified, Marlena is one of the most versatile and charismatic vocalists in show business. Her attraction to large and varied group of admires whose tastes, like her performance, cuts across conventional genres of music combining her talents in jazz, rock, soul, pop R&B and gospel roots.

Marlena’s singing artistry spans historically from performing with the Basie Orchestra, becoming the first female vocalist ever to be signed by Blue Note Records and touring with Sammy Davis, Jr… accolades too many to mention!
