Donny Hathaway's Rendition Of Steveland's "Superwoman"

I heard many people cover this song but Donny's version is the STAND-OUT, he gave it a jazzier treatment with a twist of soul. Damn I'm loving this ditty right now!

What do u guys think, is it betta than the original version or not?

I can ramble about how FRESH it sounds, it has that Miles Davis mood all over it. You don't know what you're missing if you haven't checked it out, boo nod

I haven't heard Donny's version but I was listening to Stevie's version last night and this morning. One of my all time favorite songs. Classic.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Genius covering Genius!! Not a better version, but different.
Stevie's version, simply put, is A MASTERPIECE!!
Donny took it all the way downtown then he took it to Swing Street!!
He did a Donny Hathaway on it , Dawgonit!!

Two of my favorite artists of ALL TIME!! Superwoman is A personal Classic!!

For another example of genius covering genius, listen to Ray Charles' version of Stevie's "Living For The City"!! He Ray Charlesed it!!

Also, check Stevie's version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" Every time I hear it I go WOW!!

Stevie's original contains 2 songs in 1 Superwoman/where were you when I needed you
but those coverversions I've heard only do "Where were you when I needed you".
I never heard anybody doing actually "Superwoman".
I love the way Donny does Stevie. It's like every song Donny does that he did not wrote.
He turns it 2 something else & really make it his own.
Even a wellknown standard song like "Yesterday" he does with such feeling that U never doubt
that he means every word he sings./peace Manki

Actualy Manki, the ORIGINAL remake was cut from 9 to 6 minutes as you noticed(the WHOLE Superwoman song). Which is a fuckin' bummer if you will lol but I'll settle with this one any day.
