The funkiest ever is "One Nation Under a Groove"

So high you can't get over it. So low you can't get under it.

And it's got a banjo goin on in there!

Was that one of your relatives playing it? giggle

Doo Wah Ditty is a great Zapp track 2 IMO. 1 reason why 'More Bounce 2 The Ounce' doesn't get 2 much radio play is bcuz it lasts 4 around 9 minutes!, so there4 it doesn't fit in2 most radio show's setlists, but a track like 'Doo Wah Ditty' lasts 4 around 4 minutes so its more suited 2 radio. However, an edited version of 'More Bounce' is on 'All The Greatest Hits', perhaps the DJ's should play that instead.

I'd like 2 hear atleast 1 Zapp and Roger track on UK radio, but I think I'm the only person in the UK who knows who Roger & Zapp is.

DAMN.

All this talk about More Bounce, I've been looking for it online - just to buy that one song - I-Tunes seems to have the entire Zapp/Roger catalog, EXCEPT for that one song. I found a 1-minute mp3 that's just the beginning, and it's got be itchin for the damn tune.

sho wish I had that song...

sho do.

Didn't Roger Zapp and Prince tour together back in the day? Didn't Roger open for him on the Controversy tour?

You know what your problem is? You bait others on this board so damn much, your guilty conscience expects other people to do the same to you. But I wasn't baiting you, dear. I meant every word I said.

The "unique voice" thread made me think about Roger Troutman, but that vo-coder (is that what it was) thingy really don't count, does it?

Anyways, "More Bounce" is TOIGHT! As for funky Prince songs, I think--and don't laugh--that "Anotherloverholeinyohead" is pretty funky. But even with that said, More Bounce is still mo' stank!

Yeah, pretty close. But Mr. Roger was the man. What a tragedy. It breaks my heart when I think about it.

Controversy is funky. So is Let's Work, but they don't compare to More Bounce. Freak of the Week beats them all in my book, but More Bounce is up there.

To Otan---the song "More Bounce To The Ounce" is played ALOT in my area. It's a LowRider classic, and you always see someone driving down the street, blasting it...lol...but I think my favorite Roger jam is his cover of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine".Man,that song is WICKED!

I agree!!!, 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' is great, the album version on 'The Many Facets Of Roger' is the best!, there is a 6 minute edited version on the 'Friday' soundtrack, 'Heartbreaker' also features in 'Friday', bcuz Ice Cube is a fan of Roger & Zapp.

Roger's 'Talkbox's' were custom made, and only Teddy Riley of Blackstreet has been able 2 almost emulate Roger's talkbox vocals but again, Roger pioneered the usage of the talkbox which is why u can still hear it 2day in many dance, rap and R&B tracks.

Otan,

'More Bounce' is on Zapp's 'Zapp' (first album) and on the 'All The Greatest Hit's' and 'The Anthology' (2CD) albums.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF METTING ROGER ABOUT 7 OR 8 MONTHS BEFORE HE DIED, AND HE WAS A VERY COOL DOWN 2 EARTH BROTHER. VERY GRACIOUS. LIKE U SAID, ROGER AND ZAPP WERE ONE OF THE GREATEST FUNK/R&B/ROCK BANDS NOT ONLY FROM THE 80'S BUT EVER. "SO RUFF, SO TUFF" HAS IN MY OPIONION THE FUNKIEST RYTHMN GUITAR EVER. IT IS WICKED! IT HAS A HARDER EDGE 2 IT THAN"MORE BOUNCE". ALL OF ZAPP'S AND ROGER'S SOLO ALBUMS R TOP NOTCH. ZAPP PAYED TRIBUTE 2 PRINCE WITH "ITCHIN FOR YOUR TWITCH". THAT AND "HEARTBREAKER" HAS SOME GREAT ROCK LEADS BY ROGER. HE IS TRULY MISSED.

STOP TYPING IN CAPS. IT 'READS' LIKE YOU'RE YELLING, AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO READ YOUR SENTENCES, BECAUSE IT ALL LOOKS LIKE ONE LONG HEADLINE.

Turn off Caps Lock, and then I'll be able to get through your story. I'd love to read it, but it's damn near impossible to read cuz THE WORDS ARE ALL CAPITALIZED AND BIG AND SCREAMING.

But hell no, Flashlight blows both them other songs outta da club. But second would be More Bounce. How come radio doesn't play that song? Why do they always play that stupidass Doo Wah Ditty instead? I haven't heard More Bounce in years.
