My 2nd concert ever. David Byrne

Here's my story of my 2nd concert. David Byrne.

I woke up and called my friend's mom. I was to ride down to Ann Arbor with her.

We picked up her friend and off we were down state!

The ride down was pretty uneventful. We left here about 11:30 and arrived at my friend's house around 4:30. His mom went and got a hotel room. We sat at the apartment for a little while before walking into town to Jimmy John's for dinner.

We stopped at some gaming store and watched all the nerds play magic ^_^.

Then we went back to the apartment and I fixed his DC++ and downloaded him some comic books. "Ascension", "Fathom", and "Battle Chasers"

We then sat around with his roomate and his dad. They were also going to the concert.

His roomate and his father left for dinner and we did some more sitting around until about half an hour until the show. We walked there and met everyone in the concessions area of the concert hall.

We all front row tickets but in different areas of the row. My friend and I sat to the left, his roomate and father in the center and my friends mother and her friend to the right.

I think we had the best seats in the house. It was an ampi-theater setup, we had front row and leg room. Our friends didn't have that luxury, they were right up against the stage.

So we're sitting around and talking about how bad ass our seats are, then he comes out on stage. I'll post the setlist for anyone that may understand.

1. Glass, Concrete & Stone
2. I, Zimbra
3. The Other Side of this Life
3. Tiny Apocalypse
4. Why
5. Like Humans Do
6. Psycho Killer
7. UB Jesus
8. Naive Melody
9. The Man Who Loved Beer
10. Once In A Lifetime
12. Finite=Alright
12. Road to Nowhere
13. Un Di Felice
14. The Great Intoxication
15. Flowers
16. Dialog Box
17. Desconcido Soy
18. What A Day That Was
19. Blind
20. Heaven
21. Life During Wartime
22. Lazy

The show was crazy! He's a fun dancer. One part I really liked is when he went behind the band to the backstage and then walked across the stage backwards. Then he showed up in front again and started running around the stage backwards between his lines.

By the time Psycho Killer started playing, I was up and dancing. It was so nerve racking to make eye contact with him so many times. "David Byrne's looking at me!" was my thought.

He made some comment about "I hope all you dancers are enjoying yourselves" and he started laughing at the way we were all dancing. You could tell he was having a lot of fun.

Being so close to him was crazy when he started dancing up on stage right in front of me. He wasn't even 3 feet away from me. It was the most amazing fan-girl moment I could hope for.

David Byrne then played "The Great Intoxication" and they went through all the bows and waves goodbye. The lights went out and the audiance clapped and cheered for about 10 minutes.

He then came back out on stage with the entire band and played my favorite Talking Heads song. "Flowers". I was really pumped for his encore then and he played another 4 songs and once again they bowed and waved their good byes. Once agian the crowd cheered their heads off and about 5 minutes later David came out by himself and picked up one of his acoustics. He then went into a solo version of "Heaven".

Then the entire band came back out for a really upbeat version of "Life During Wartime" my friends favorite Talking Heads song.

He ended the show with his "live interpertation of a remix". He played a 10 minute version of "Lazy". They once again did their bows and waves and this time it was for real. The house lights came on but the clapping didn't stop. We all stayed for nearly another 15 minutes.

So we left from another amazing concert. It was definatly up there with my David Bowie concert. We walked back to the apartment, stopping for some Smirnoff on the way back to the apartment. We drank that and listened to Talking Heads albums until we passed out. ^_^

I had such a fun night, coming back into town here was really depressing. >_<

But now I sit at home waiting for Monday when I'll be attending my 3rd concert. Prince at Auburn Hills.

I definatly recommend the album if only for the 3rd track "Au Fond du Temple Saint", It's an opera song that he sings with Rufus Wainwright.

About the Believer magazine, I've never heard of it or seen on around here. We suck up here in northern Michigan. >_<
