Tuesday June 15, 2004 OK, this is quite crazy. We’ve all (most of us) seen a moving .gif image of Jay-Z in some sort of dispute with a woman. Now, many people have vilified Jigga already – calling him a woman beater. This is all based off a clip of about 3 seconds. Anyway, while the clip shows what it shows, we actually heard it was all over something slightly different. We heard that the girl with the ponytail was trying to take pictures of Hov and he didn’t want his picture taken. He and she were “scrapping” over that. Now that I've settled down, I will take a rational view of this incident. It does seem as if he pushes the woman's face after he takes the camera from her hand. What ever lead up to this encounter shouldn't matter, because it clearly looks to me as if he seriously pushes her hard. If this has happend recently, where is the outrage and coverage? Is the victim waiting to gather herself before slamming him with a lawsuit? It seems like respectable behaviour from someone who brags about his "pimp" life and "hustlin' " days.

That's not the point, some women know for a fact that some men don't hit women so they use that against them and do the most vile shit to them, just because they (think they) can... That's a slightly extreme example and I think you can always provide exceptions to social convention or morals by going to an extreme. I do see your point - but "in general" I think the "no hitting women" rule is a pretty good one to go by. | |
