Healing break-up songs I want to make a compilation cd with songs about getting over a break-up.
I Will Survive comes to mind... Then of course there are the angry and bitter songs, but I don't want to focus on negativity. Maybe I'll make one positive and one angry, lol. I need ideas.

hour follows hour- ani difranco hour follows hour like water follows water everything is governed by the rule of one thing leads to another you can't really place blame cuz blame is much too messy some was bound to get on you while you were trying to put it on me and don't fool yourself into thinking things are simple nobody's lying still the stories don't line up why do you try to hold on to what you'll never get a hold on you wouldn't try to put the ocean in a paper cup cuz i have had something to prove as long as i know there's something that needs improvement and you know that every time i move i make a woman's movement and first you decide what you've gotta do then you go out and do it and maybe the most we can do is just to see each other through it hour follows hour like water in a river and from one to the next we don't know what each hour will deliver we just call it like we see it call it out loud as we can and then afterwards we call it all water over the dam maybe the moral higher ground ain't as high as it seems maybe we are both good people done some bad things i just hope it was okay i know it wasn't perfect i hope in the end we can laugh and say it was all worth it cuz i have had something to prove as long as i know something that needs improvement and you know that everytime i move i make a woman's movement and first you decide what you've gotta do then you go out and do it and maybe the most that we can do is just to see each other through it we make our own gravity to give weight to things then things fall and they break and gravity sings we can only hold so much is what i figure try and keep our eye on the big picture picture keeps getting bigger and too much is how i love you but too well is how i know you and i've got nothing to prove this time just something to show you i guess i just wanted you to see that it was all worth it to me Angry: Rid Of Me- PJ Harvey Tie yourself to me No one else, no You're not rid of me You're not rid of me Night and day I breathe Hah hah ay hey You're not rid of me Yeah you're not rid of me Yeah you're not rid of me Yeah you're not rid of me I beg you my darling Don't leave me I'm hurting Lick my legs I'm on fire Lick my legs of desire I'll tie your legs Keep you against my chest Oh you're not rid of me Yeah you're not rid of me I'll make you lick my injuries I'm gonna twist your head off, see Till you say don't you wish you never never met her Don't you don't you wish you never never met her Don't you don't you wish you never never met her Don't you don't you wish you never never met her I beg you my darling Don't leave me I'm hurting I've been lonely Above everything Above every day I'm hurting Lick my legs I'm on fire Lick my legs of desire Lick my legs I'm on fire Lick my legs of desire Yeah you're not rid of me Yeah you're not rid of me I'll make you lick my injuries I'm gonna twist your head off, see Till you say don't you wish you never never met her Don't you don't you wish you never never met her Don't you don't you wish you never never met her Lick my legs of desire Lick my legs I'm on fire Lick my legs of desire |

Numb Written by P!nk & D. Austin Published by P!nk Publishing Designee/EMI-April Music, Inc. (ASCAP)/Cyptron Music/EMI-Blackwood Music Inc. (BMI) No sleep, no sex, for you from your x-girlfriend I was too deep can't let you call me just jump in At times I would push my feelings aside to let you feel I'm novocaine I'm numb and nothing's real Like the coldest winter I am frozen from you I was weak before now you've made me So numb I don't feel much for you anymore I gave you my all my baby I'm numb, numb, numb But the tears were silent inside you see I laid there quiet And watched you have your way with me I might have cried But the tears were silent inside you see You called me names Made me feel like I was dumb I didn't feel a thing And now I'm gone, gone, gone Like a battered child I got used to your pain but you you know it's 'cause Produced & Arranged by Dallas Austin for DARP, Inc. Spinning Around Spinning around Oooh-oh I'm spinning around Move out of my way I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this I'm breakin' it down I'm not the same I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this Traded in my sorrows for some joy that I borrowed From back in the day Threw away my old clothes Got myself a better wardrobe I got something to say I'm through with the past Ain't no point in looking back The future will be And did I forget to mention that I found a new direction And it leads back to me? I'm spinning around Move out of my way I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this I'm breakin' it down I'm not the same I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it Mistakes that I made givin' me the strength To really believe And no matter how I take it There's no way i'm gonna fake it 'cuz it's gotta be real I've got nothin' left to hide No reason left to fight 'Cuz the truth's given me a new freedom inside Gettin' rid of my desire Do you like what you see? I'm spinning around Move out of my way I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this I'm breakin' it down I'm not the same I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this Ooh-oh baby, baby, baby You know you like it like this Ooh-oh baby, baby, baby You know you like it like this Ooh-oh baby, baby, baby I'm spinning around Move out of my way I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this I'm breakin' it down I'm not the same I know you're feelin' me 'cuz you like it like this Oh, I'm not the same You like it like this Ooh-oh Spinning edit! Kylie Minogue
Things Can Only Get Better [1:] Make up your mind and don't believe It's bad news everywhere Take your time and look around Because there's something in the air There's a feeling that's gaining ground And everyone can have a share Don't miss your chance Take up your stance And just be sure that you are there [CHORUS:] It's in your hands now To change your fortune To shape your future Be proud of yourself Remember, things can only get better [2:] If you believe inside your heart Nobody's second class Every day's a brand new start What's past is past And if your dreams go nowhere Don't give up the fight Come with me and you will see It all looks different in the morning light [CHORUS:] [BRIDGE:] If you're feeling you can't go on and you're Lost and lonely and feel so afraid Remember, things can only get better [CHORUS:] [BRIDGE:] [CHORUS:] [fade] Kylie Minogue Promises Remember how it used to be, Remember how you promised me, That life would always be good, You forget the fact you lied to me, You locked my heart and threw the key, I'm so misunderstood, What to say when all the words have gone, Promises, promises, What to do when all our thoughts have flown, Promises, promises, Remember how I gave my heart, And all at once we fell apart, Was I supposed to forgive you, You forgot the fact you said to me, That we were for eternity, You're so easy to see through, What to say when all the words have gone, Promises, promises, What to do when all our thoughts have flown, Promises, promises, Remember that I'm over you, And know that I will make it through, Hope you never forget it, The promises you made to me, Were really lies and fantasy, Hope you come to regret it, What to say when all the tears have dried, Promises, promises, What to think when all our love has died, Promises, promises, The promises we used to keep have gone, And with them all the words, That kept us both from seeing what was wrong, The rest is silent, What to say when all the words have gone, Promises, promises, What to do when all our thoughts have flown, Promises, promises, What to say when all the tears have dried, Promises, promises, What to think when all our love has died, Promises, promises.

Hello Vina,
My idea 2 U is, U have 2 identify who or what u’re angry at. What’s the root of your mental turmoil? When did it begin? How long did this anger last or is it still present? Here’s and example this song was written by Ani Difranco. i'm still here because i've got nothing else to do you're an asshole but i'm getting used to you i like the fact that you talk incessantly i got a thing for assholes who tell good stories i think that drinking is the only thing that you do right you're gonna self-destruct i think that's what i like you like me so you try and make me feel like shit i think it's kind of funny yeah i kind of enjoy it if you're gonna do it, overdo it that's how you know you're alive go ahead, take yourself a coma nap take a puddle dive you said, this is my bedroom window you said, this is my view you said, lie down here with me and see the things that i do like you were trying to tell me something about the way you live like you would give me something if you had something to give and for all your talk you don't say much that's real i think i know more than you about the way that you feel i understand your anger and your apathy i think if i was you, you're who i'd be i'm still here 'cause i got nothing else to do you're an asshole but i'm getting used to you i could love you, yeah i've entertained the thought but i could never like you so i guess i'd better not Self preservation is a full-time occupation.

I hope this comp isn't meant for you Vina, but if so... That song makes me sad. Sometimes the sad songs are healing though, even the angry songs too. I just don't want to dwell. I'm doing pretty good, taking it better than any breakup in the past. Thanks for the hug.

EVENTUALLY, by CYNDI LAUPER
(after listening to this, you'll feel much better, I swear!!) I met a man And talked about you He seemed like a man from Osaka I knew And he listened while I told him how you hurt me And he consoled me when he told me he'd been hurt too And he said we are inter-dependent And the effects on each other never ending And that the air has no boundaries I think this water that surrounds me Is the same water soaking through to you? So, what comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you What comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you I had some tea With a gal from Paris We talked about life, sex, love and poetry And you can't help it Your name came up again And she said man those kind of guys Really know how to steal all of the oxygen And I said we are inter-dependent And the effects on each other never ending And that the air has no boundaries I think this water that surrounds me Is the same water soaking through to you? So, what comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you What comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you I have a friend I confide in He always says doll you got to learn not to lead with your chin But you can't help it It all comes up again And then you have your fill And your spill reaches down as far as a flood So, what comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you What comes floating to me Eventually Will come floating back to you Eventually Eventually Will come floating back to you Eventually Eventually "America is a continent..."
