2 weeks past on friday i met mick jones (the clash/b.a.d) and tony james (gen x / s s sputnick) the guys on here who kinda know me !!! know i'm a big punk fan in the uk , well heres my story..... i went to see carbon silicon in edinburgh the other week in a venue called "the venue" CS are mick jones from the clash's new band along with his friend of 30 yrs tony james. knowing it was a small venue i took a couple of cd,s along just in case i got the chance of an autograph, firstly the new band played all new material i hadnt heard before and my girlfriend and i thought they were fab !!! the new material sounds a bit more like big audio dynamite than the clash !!!, jonesy was awsome playing guitar doin vocals and even throwin in a set on the bongo's !!! cool , i got lots of photos as we were right down the front . front row at times !!!, after the gig i asked the merchandise peeps if they could get mick and tony to sign my clash and generation x cd's they said if i hung about for a while they'd try their best for me ,... true to their word they got both discs signed .... the clash - london calling , to danny mick jones !!! wow !!! and generation x - valley of the dolls , to danny tony james !!! wow !!! as my girl and i were talking with a couple of fans outside the venue when tony james appeared probably for some fresh air. we approached him and got some great photos !!! he was very talkative and sooooo friendly, he said they had recorded 3 full albums but b'cos they are full o samples they were having bother tryin to relerase em, he said keep checking the website cos we are gonna give the albums away free on the web !!! they'v got a song called mp3 which encourages the fans to d'load and even namechecks kazaa !!! they even encourage the fans to record the shows on dvd vhs etc !!!, my girlfriend mentioned we were in paris the week before and that we had met sting, tony said would you like to come back stage annd meet mick ???!!! fuckin hell meet mick we almost froze on the spot !!!, for me meeting mick jones was like meeting ... the pope , prince, bob marley, john lennon and the queen rolled into one !!! mick was absolutely charming posing for lots o photos and it was so weird speaking to him his voice is so distinctive kinda high cockney london accent ! he more or less said the same as tony re the new music etc if i knew how to i'd post some pics but i'm fuckin hopeless on the pc !!! sorry !!! anyone else got any clash , punk tales to tell ???

Lucky Lucky Lucky!
I'm listening to "Tommy Gun" right now. Getting "London Calling" signed has probably tripled the value of that album by 1000%. Unfortunately no cool stories of them from me. Though I've met people and worked with people who've met them. So in a sense, it's like 3 degrees of seperation. I'm happy for you. Thanks for sharing!

That is sooooo awesome, Danny.
Mick was my favorite in the group. By the way, does Tony James still have that big, pink hairdo?? Anyways, that's great that you met 2 Punk legends. The closest I came was seeing Joe Strummer and his Mescaleros perform live at Virgin records 2 years ago. They had a signing afterwards, but I couldn't afford a CD nor get it signed.
