Patti La Belle's best song!

SOMEBODY LOVES YOU BABY (you know who it is) ?????

hmmm

TEMPTATION (written & originally done by Martika)

FEELS LIKE ANOTHER ONE

YO MISTER

ON MY OWN with MICHAEL MCDONALD

I have a couple of Patti La Belle albums already, BURNIN' being my favourite....but last night I broke down and bought "Greatest Hits" (1996) $9. Figured it's worth it. giggle But a couple songs aren't on there. mad But it's the best "GH" I could find by her. Forget Lady Marmalade..I think Somebody Loves You.. just may take the cake. I have to play it again right now. I also love If You Ask Me To. However after CELINE DION did it... drool It was ovah! lol That's Celine's song now! nod

*(ducks before the Patti fans start throwin' chit!)* whistling

thumbs up!

the one I just bought....

and of course the one I just now came across! rolleyes mad

I think an exchange is in order. shhh

Anyway. What do you think is Pattis' very best song?

Nothing will ever top "If Only You Knew"

honorable mention to: "Love Need Want You", "You Turn Me On" (Labelle), "The Best Is Yet to Come" (w/Grover Washington Jr), "What Can I Do For You" (Labelle) and "You Are My Friend"

My favorite Patti song is the Prince-penned "Yo Mister". Just love the groove and the way Patti sings it. Perfection!

For the 'blow my socks off, Patti!' songs, where she just takes a song and wrings the heck out of all those notes sending goosebumps through you, I love "When You've Been Blessed (Feels Like Heaven)", "Love Never Dies" and "Crazy Love". All three are from the CD 'Burnin''. On that last song, "Crazy Love", she just takes a note higher and higher and higher until you're wondering if she's ever going to stop and still maintains the vibrato and tonal quality in that upper-upper register. The woman is phenomenal!

Couldn't disagree more. I love what Patti does with this song. Starting with a whisper and then letting go. Patti's is much more emotional and the verison I love. Probably my favorite song by her. BTW, Chico1, what is that last album you listed. I don't recognize it. Then again, I don't have much Patti stuff either.

Nobody can take a Patti Labelle song and sing it better then her. It just don't HAPPEN.

NOW on the contrary, Patti could take some1 else's work and make the orginal artist WISH they nvr sang that song 2 begin with!!!

Thats PATTI POWER!!![

If You Don't Know Me By Now, Somewhere - Live, Burnin', The Best is Yet to Come, You are My Friend, Isn't It A Shame (LaBelle), Feels Like Another One, If Only You Knew, Yo Mister, etc. with addition to checking her out, I have one of Patti's Live Concert tapes, and she tears it up and down and sideways! Nona Hendrix and Sarah Dash could sing just as powerful as Patti, but Patti was the icing on the cake!! Patti's If You Asked Me To, put's Celine's version to shame! Although I like Celine's voice, but just a few of her songs, Celine's version is too plain and sterile for me. Ms. Patti is one of the most legendary fierest entertainers this side of Prince, James Brown, Tina Turner, etc. I have ever seen live and otherwise! And she's still doin' it to death! Love You Always Patti!!!!
