Universal (USA) signs AHA

For the first time in 9 years AHA will have a record released in the USA and you wont have to get it at the Import shops. Universal has signed AHA to a 3CD deal starting now. The label is already getting ready even though the record wont be out till Next year. AHA originally signed to WEA back in 1984, they had been with WEA until this past year when their contract ran out internationally. Wea in the USA dropped AHA back in 1996. Since that time AHA have enjoyed a RE-birth and a more mature sound which has been copied quite alot since then. Though AHA are considered one-hit wonders here in the USA, they have sold close to 30 million albums and had 13 straight top 10 singles in england from 1985-1990. AHA's sound matured in 1990 and gone were the keyboards, they released EAST OF THE SUN WEST OF THE MOON one of the best records of the 90's. AHA took a break between 1996-1999 and then came back in 2000 with what BONO called "the CD of the year" MINOR EARTH MAJOR SKY, and it was huge worldwide, that followed with LIFELINES another smash, and then their Finale for WEA, the Live record (amazing sound) HOW CAN I SLEEP WITH YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD, a 2disc set closed out there stay with WEA. Now universal will carry AHA worldwide to all markets, here in the US they are excited about the biggest challenge, the label is looking to build some hype with the 20th anniversary of TAKE ON ME but no plans for a Remix (thank god), AHA will set up a TOUR in 2005, the first US tour in almost 20 years. The label is aiming for the COLDPLAY crowd, since that is kind of AHA's sound to begin with. AHA decided to go with Universal mainly because they are biggest label around and also SONY got DURAN DURAN to deal with.

Waitaminnit!!!

A-Ha, Tears For Fears and Duran Duran all have major albums and tours in the works.

George Michael and Prince are in the Billboard top 40

Siouxsie, The Cure, Morrisey and The Pixies are touring, Love & Rockets is planning one.

The two most critically acclaimed tours of the year are Prince and Madonna!!

Wow! Somehow I travelled back in time to 1985!!! Guess I need to pair up with Marty McFly to fix the DeLorean...
