Aaliyah Me and the kid were watching tv and an Aaliyah video came on...she quickly said that there would be no Ashanti and some of these other chicks if Aaliyah was still alive....
I thought that was interesting observation..... I have Aaliyah's greatest hits cd.....and I really liked that chick...there were songs that didn't make the greatest hits cd that I miss.....especially "if your girl only knew"...

That's probably my favorite Aaliyah song. I was never big on her albums but luckily I bought the singles when they came out b/c certain remixes were always better than album versions. Some other cool ones are "Hot Like Fire" (remix) & "Come Back In One Piece" w/ DMX. I had to make my own greatest hits cd

I think Ashanti attempted 2 come in when we were hurt about Aaliyah and we unknowingly excepted her 2 try 2 feel the gap in the music world and now we've woken up and realized the chick cant sing. And like His promise is true

Ashanti is a poor drunken incontinent bum's version of Aaliyah.
Ashanti can't sing for nuts and is butt ugly in comparison to Aaliyah. I really miss Aaliyah...the darkness and sensuality of her music. RIP. . [This message was edited Thu Jun 3 18:19:17 2004 by mrdespues]

I didn't even know there was a greatest hits disc by Aaliyah...I should have. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

"I Care For U" was a rather poorly assembled collection released in late 2002 with a bonus DVD featuring a few videos. It had a few new songs (the most notable being "I Miss You") but the album is missing a ton of songs like "If You're Girl Only Knew", "4 Page Letter"..basically most of the hits from "One In A Million" yet they felt the need to include the video (one I had never seen before) and a remix of her verison of "Got To Give It Up". It's possibly the worst thing I've ever heard from her and considering I've loved everything that she's done, a cover this bland and souless is a big surprise. The collection seems to be out of print as well but can probably sells really cheap online. When it came out I heard a lot of people saying this was just a collection and not a proper greatest hits/best of so I wouldn't be surprised if they ever release a real collection that includes all of her actual hits. I assume it would go something like this. Back and Forth Age Ain't Nohting But A Number (maybe) At Your Best If Your Girl Only Knew One In A Million Hot Like Fire (maybe) THe One I Gave My Heart To Journey Through the Past (maybe) Are You That Somebody Try Again I Don't Wanna (maybe) Come Back In One Piece (maybe) We Need A Resolution Rock THe Boat More Than A Woman I Care For U I Miss You Come Over There are 13 hits, most that were at least Top 40 pop hits and quite a few were Top 20 and even Top 10! That's it! No new tracks! The last collection was enough odds and ends. All those songs are great and show the diversity in Aaliyah's music while "I Care For U" only included her biggest pop hits and and mostly slow R&B that was on "Aaliyah" (the new tracks were songs not fit for the album).

I wish I'd appreciated her & her music more when she was here

Recently, someone told me that your goal in life is to leave your mark on this planet, your legacy.....and when Aaliyah passed away, it was clear she did this because so many were effected and didn't realized it. I think she was our little princess in music and was ready for her to take on the world with the Matrix films, etc. ok...enough.....

All I have to say, as a gay man, there was something absolutely sensual about Aaliyah.
Granted I wasn't a big fan of her music, I absolutely fell in love with her last album (before the I Care for you). _________________________________________

Yeah, but we realized that as soon as she opened her mouth on Ja Rule's "Always On Time" video.

Aaliyah really had it right. How can you go wrong when you study and pattern yourself after this angel?:
