New Mariah album info!!! coming this fall!!! Pop superstar Mariah Carey is all set to make 2004 her year. Mariah told Extra! about all the magic she’s planning
These days, Mariah is recording a new album and an acting gig will have her in London early next year. “London, I’m totally excited about.” Mariah said, "I'm working on my record, which is not called "Lollypop". It doesn't have a title yet, but I'm really excited about the music. Yes, Mariah will be taking the stage in Great Britain, bringing the 1957 Marilyn Monroe classic, “The Prince and the Showgirl” to life. “I don’t want to jinx it. I don’t want to talk about it because I want to get everything straight and together first.” Talk about together. Mariah recently teamed up with manager Benny Medina who says Mariah is “honing her skills in every department right now. We were up until four o’clock in the morning last night literally in a room of her house just listening to a variety of different mixes of new songs she has just written.” Medina says expect great things of her new album due out this fall, promising more Mariah hits. And for the new album, Mariah spent time on the island of Anguilla writing music that producer Randy Jackson says is pure heat. “It’s a very different record. It’s just more growth from her. There are some amazing vocals. She’s singing her face off on this record.” Producers included are : Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis James Poyser :who has produced Erykah Bady, Jill Scott, common and the roots Kanye West :Can you imagine it? Her vocals and his beats? It’s over! Kanye says the biggest misconception about him is that he’s arrogant – he says he just knows he’s good. Amen. Scott Storch R. Kelly Mario Winans Mahogany: who will produce the first single, which samples a 1974 track from R&B group New Birth. and Randy Jackson: We're gonna pull out all the stops and try some different things. You gonna see her return to what she was doing years ago with the "Vision of Love" period. She's already got a couple of hot joints Can't wait!!

Looks to me like she's gonna make yet another run-of-the-mill R&B album.Once again, she's working with all the trendy R&B and hip-hop producers...Jam and Lewis,Kanye West,R.Kelly??
and should anyone be thrilled that her first single is gonna sample a 1974 New Birth song? Just what the world needs...another sample-heavy R&B song.Mariah is extremely talented.Too bad she wastes her talent on second-rate material.

I didn't buy her last album with "Boy" feat. Cam'ron. Sure that was a sample-heavy (Rose Royce) affair.. but with Kanye West, they could be going for more of an Alicia Keys ("You Don't Know My Name") type of soul angle. Maybe they'll flip New Birth like some Angie Stone shit; we won't know until we hear it. I've got a better feeling about this new album than Charmbracelet. Was just reminded of that TRON thread "Name Mariah's Next Album" haha.

Wow, Randy Jackson sounds like he's stuck in the early 90's. "It’s just more growth from her. There are some amazing vocals. She’s singing her face off on this record. We're gonna pull out all the stops and try some different things. [....] She's already got a couple of hot joints.”
Come to think of it, so does Mariah. And if it's not called "Lollypop", "Candyman" will probably be the title.

Dontcha just love the way producers always try to hype up an album they're producing? I remember before Whitney's last CD came out,Babyface was saying stuff like "You're gonna get goosebumps when you hear her vocals on this album" LOL.

I thought the album was gonna have some live band shit. If Mariah 7 produced this whole album it would prolly be tight...Subtle Invitation and There Goes My Heart were some Mariah classics. Hopefully theres sum techno stuff on there, id doubt it. I read in Entertainment Weekly recently they were saying the same thing...they hope she gets some dance producers. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Can someone explain to me why the hell Kanye West is considered a hot producer? Let's see, let me speed up some old R&B tracks and put some weak, hollow beats behind it. Yea that's hot Man I must be getting hella old. [This message was edited Tue Jun 8 9:15:26 2004 by intha916] Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

Don't 4get that she invited a LIVE JAZZ BAND this time too
I think you guys are giving her a hard time, lets hear the shit then we can comment. I'm glad that she included James Poyser, he's one of my fave young keyboardists.

Yeah, but has she replaced "live band" with "Kanye West" (Kanye certainly prefers sterile samples over working with real musicians)? It remains to be seen.....

We're still living in the real world and sadly(for her) her idea of longivity is keeping up with the new music. I couldn't give a frog's fat ass about what bullshit she could pull, I washed my hands on the possibility that she'll desert that kind of music. But if she would INCLUDE something that confirms her growth(like that live jazz band) then l'm def down 4 that. And yeah I can overlook some of the bullshit she's trying to do just 4 the sake of listening to the other good shit that folks don't have the chance to hear.

The records she did with the jazz band are the tracks she produced with Randy Jackson.
also the latest rumor is the track she just did with "Scram Jones" will be the new first single here's what he said about it: I just did one track with her,” he said. “I wish I was rapping on her record but I’m just producing. S*** is on fire though. The song is melodic with hard hip hop drums.” Scram also said, “You can see how I met Mariah on N.O.R.E.’s ‘Whatup 2da Hood’ street DVD.”
