i'm really tempted to go, even though the only bands i really wanna see are sonic youth and le tigre...but i REALLY wanna see sonic youth and le tigre!!!

it's been such a freakin' good year for seeing live music. so far, i've seen or have tix to see prince, bowie, the pixies and i'm working on tix for the cure, laurie anderson and courtney love.

maybe sonic youth and le tigre would put me over the top. nuts

I'd love to see Sonic Youth - I'm afraid I've let my attention to this band lapse in the last eight years, but I'll love Daydream Nation and Sister forever. However, I'm just not that keen on stadium or arena shows anymore. I've been to a few too many shows where I was stuck about a quarter mile away from the stage trying to listen to wind-distorted music and staring at a guy the size of a thimble.

Now, if I could see Sonic Youth in a theatre or a club, that would be an event not to be missed.

I had the honor last summer of sitting right smack dab in front of Thurston Moore at a Sonic Youth club show. It was one of the most freakin' amazing things I'd ever seen. The man is criminally underrated as a guitar genius...he definitely belongs up there with Prince, Zappa, Hendrix, blah blah blah....I think Thurston might be a little too hip for that club though. wink

Yes, I will be there when they take that freakshow to New York. I can't miss my beloved Morrissey or Pixies.

He's definitely one of the few guitarists to forge an original and identifiable sound since the sixties.

(Sigh) I'm green with jealousy, of course. I really need to move to a major city. I'm missing out on too much living in Canada's armpit.
