Apparently, it's OK if a straight person makes an entire album about a relationship, sex or love - that isn't "shoving it down our throats", but if a gay artist does, the double standard kicks in. I disagree....I've heard artist who I know are in a relationship when they put out some music and you just want to throw the fuck up....ie Common/erykah badu.....India Arie/musiq.... I love erykah but she sucked the life out of common's music and we had to hear about it....india cut her locs and lost her mind with Musiq....so there are straight artist that get on my nerves when they are in love..... Yeah, know what you mean. Also see Bobby B & Whitney's "Something In Common", JLo's "Ben". It's like seeing people making out in public. You just wanna scream - "GO TO A FUCKING HOTEL/MOTEL/HOLIDAY INN". There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Shapeshifter said: Look, it wouldn't really matter one bit if said songs were as good as say "Jesus To A Child", "Fastlove" or "Outside", but "American Angel" really is a turd in turd's clothing, "My Dead Gay Uncle" is equally bad, and the drama queenery of "Through" is the best vomit-inducer I've ever heard. I can't argue that. I have no problem with people disliking songs because they thing they're bad. Your taste is your own and i respect that. I was reacting to the 'gay themes ruined the songs' discussion. When the music itself is concerned that's something completely different. greetz Kev1n It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

Yes it is possible to make a song without direct reference, or even flat out "lying" by singing about she/her etc. But he already did that for the last 20 years. This time around, the straight fans can be the ones who change the pronouns in their heads. I agree. I'm straight, and it doesn't bother me at all. It's good music, beautifully written. George has made it very clear that he's not the least bit concerned about what fans/the media want. What it is about is that he is an artist, and he has the right to express himself as he chooses. Which is exactly why I'm selling my copy back. Thanks for helping to back my initial point! What? Is that the truth? He's always gotta be all righteous, he probably is a dick in real life. Well, at least when Prince is pissy he still knows how 2 jam or 2 and show love 4 his fans. I still like him yes, but George.....man this shouldve been an internet fan club release. GMMC any1? lol Straight Jacket Funk Affair

For starters, the music lacks structure and innovation and they all sound alike. Furthermore, we know you're gay George, so why are you insisting on shoving it down our throats in all of your songs? I was highly disappointed in this album and will immediately post this on eBay for re-sale. From now on I'll just keep replaying my Ladies and Gentlemen CD. Okay, so its okay for straight artists to sing about having relationships with folks of the opposite sex, but gay people should keep it gender neutral so as to not offend you??? I'm sorry, but I can understand why a whole lot of gay orgers are offended by this. I'm sure you didn't mean it to come across as intolerant, but that's truly the way it came across. I'm straight, and I never once found George to be beating people over the head with his sexuality. He sings "he" instead of "she", so what? Its not different than if I were listening to a female artist. He's singing from his perspective. As an artist, he's being true to himself. Its not like he's singing odes to anal sex or anything. Now, as to the music, I can understand it not really floating your boat. It took me a few listens before I really dug it. It has a few misfires, but its worth it for the truly good songs, IMO. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I think this is a big reason why Prince's conversion to the JW faith bothers so many people. They can no longer identify with him the way they once did, so they get angry. Now, as to whether or not he "put one over on you", you have to understand that, according to interviews he's given, George was pretty confused about his sexuality in the early days of his career as well. He thought of himself as bisexual, and at the time of the "Faith" album, he was almost exclusively dating women. He said he realised he was truly gay when he fell in love with a man. Sexually, he finds both attractive, but he feels he can only fall in love with men. C'mon though, wasn't the "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" video a pretty big hint???? THAT'S WHY I PLAN TO RE-SELL IT ON EBAY Get it now? 4 the record, the sheer volume of songs out there that are about boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back and gets married and has 2.4 children is overwhelming, why the fuck can't we have a few songs about boy meets boy and lives happily ever-after once in awhile?
The whole point of being an artist is being true 2 yourself - and like Madartista said, he's supressed that part of himself 4 so long, why shouldn't he write songs about it? Personally, this album is his most honest and bare - u just gotta dig deeper than the surface. I'm done here. You've been done! Next. bananacologne said: ...So u dont like it - big deal, get rid, move on!
