The new Felix album is out!

I'm giving it my first listen right now, and so far all I can say is "Miami Vice meets Parliament Funkadelic". nuts

I know everyone's avoiding this thread like the plague... mad mad mad

...but it just occurred to me that the 12th track, "Nitelife Funworld", samples Prince's song GIRL (the b-side of "America") quite liberally. Nice. smile

Ok, that's all. Carry on..

it's a hoot and a half, i think. did you notice the "girl" part? it's pretty slick.

It's a fantastic album. The Girl sample was a bit cheeky, I thought, but nice to hear it - it's one of my favourite B-Sides. Felix, Basement Jaxx, Benjamin Diamond, Beck's Midnite Vultures tour... almost make up for Prince standing still for the past 15 years...

it was VERY cheeky - it was a fun surprise though..."wait, that sounds like...hey, wait a minute...it IS!!!"

it was a nice, semi-obscure choice of songs to reference.

His first album was great. It took me a few listens to get into it, but it really grew on me. Is Ms Kittin on this one as well?

Yeah - from the Stardust/Daft Punk collective. Strange Attitude isn't a *great* album, but it's got some great Controversy-meets-filtered-late-90s-French-house flourishes.. Or maybe just me. Still, he's the only modern artist I know to give shouts to Vanity and Appolonia in his liner notes.

Nah, no Miss Kittin this time around, though apparently she has a brand new album out too...I just can't find the damn thing anywhere. mad

Not posted on the org for a looooonnnnng while but in this thread people are actually talking about electronic music that f*cking rocks!

Felix has got it spot on with this one, proper 80's glamour, stadium rock funk workout! cool

You're right in saying that there isn't a dud on there ... it just has a REAL energy running right through it.

Growing on me with every listen!

Must admit, I didn't notice the 'Girl' sample eek

Another electro artist that you should check out is Mylo, the albums called 'Destroy Rock and Roll' on Breastfed (www.breastfed.tv).

There's a bit of everything on there but it sounds like a cross between Roykksopp, Daft Punk, Prince and Scissors Sister. There's also a cheeky sample of Prince on that one too but I'll let you find it yourself (quite blatant actually), just proper music to move to.

BTW Miss Kitten's new album is called 'I Com' on Novamute, it was released in the UK last week but I don't know about the States!

Good to know I'm not alone in my love of the electronic ... keep on keepin on!

I'm embarrassed to say that it took me forever to realize that Felix's song "What Does It Feel Like" sampled Vanity 6's "Bite The Beat." I loved the song as soon as I heard it because it sounded like Prince, but didn't figure out it's because he actually used a Prince sample until months later. It's so obvious too. Shame on me.
