I have one of his albums. In school I won 2nd place in a 'lip sync' competition doing one of his songs. It was called "I Like My Body". Someone told me I could've placed first, but I had an injury a couple weeks before, so I couldn't do the entire routine I planned.
"I like my body..I think I'm fine..." Oh..back on topic. I've not heard much of his music in recent years though.

I was just playing one of his CDs today. You missed out on Chico? His first CD came out in 97. I guess people didn't pay much attention to him cause D'angelo was more in the spotlight and some of Chico's songs kinda sounded similar to D's
His albums are: Long time, no see (97)- His best album of the 3. A good neo soul album before neo soul got all...blah The game (99)-Not that great. Joe produced many tracks on this. "listen to your man" was the single off of this one. Free (03)- I didn't buy this one. The single off of this one was called "Home Alone". I remember seeing the video for it last fall on Vh1 soul. I guess it didn't do well Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched

Actually, that cd in 1997 was not his first one. His first cd came out in the late 80's or early 90's. Let me see if I can find any info on it.

Jonathan Debarge was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1966. He was the tenth of thirteen children and was raised by his mother and stepfather.
When he was a small boy he acquired the name 'Chico' from either his stepfather or uncle, and it has stayed with him ever since. While his brothers and sisters went on to form the 80's groups' Switch and Debarge (the latter's biggest hit being Rhythm Of The Night), Chico had a brief stint with Motown Records as a solo artist. His debut single Talk To Me was a major US hit, and he had four more black music chart entries up to 1988. Life on the inside In October 1988, Chico's career stalled somewhat when he and Brother Bobby - of the Motown group Switch - were arrested and convicted of drug charges. They were both sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. Whilst in Prison, Chico began a journey which some would say determined the outcome of his present day success. He began to grow and develop artistically as a musician, whiling away the long hours of solitude by writing and singing of his trials and tribulations. However, he often needed permission from the relevant authorities to do so. Life on the out In 1994 Chico Debarge was released from prison. He was amazed at how much the music business had evolved since his time incarcerated. Artists' had become more corporate and manufactured with their sounds, opposed to having their own distinction and creativity. Fortunately, this didn't deter him from his passion and gift for singing, and just 4 months into his release he'd signed a deal with La'Face records. However, he soon came to realise there was a problem with the musical direction in which the label wanted him to persue, and sadly, the indifferences led to Chico and La'Face parting company on mutual ground. Chico releases album In 1997 Chico's album, Long Time No See, was released. It sounded fresh and different from what the public had formerly perceived to be 'The Debarge Sound'. He had also distanced himself from the Debarge image, whose music had since gained a mixed reception. http://www.geocities.com/...s/cbio.htm Because it had been almost 10 years between the first and second album, he titled to second album "Longtime No See."

I am proud to say I have every Chico DeBarge album. I got his first one back in 87 as a graduation present. My favorite cut is No Guarantees, the remix with Joe.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that Chico's second album in 1987, 'Kiss Serious' featured several tracks produced by Brownmark, including the lead single "I've Been Watching You." His first two albums also included songs from Vanity's producer, Skip Drinkwater.
