What's with all the mystery surrounding Babyface's new CD?

It looks like Babyface might be having some problems getting his new CD released.Titled 'Love Story',it was supposed to come out on March 30.The first single "Loneliness" was sent to radio months ago,and the video is currently airing on BET.The new album was said to be a return to form,a soulful R&B album in the vein of 'Tender Lover'.But according to CDUniverse, the CD has now been pushed back until Friday December 31,2004 ??!! This isn't the first time Babyface has had problems releasing new music.Around 1999/2000,he turned in a new album to Arista, and it was apparently rejected. He then called up The Neptunes, recorded a batch of new songs and finally released the 'Face 2 Face' CD in late 2001.It looks like the new album is also being "re-tooled".I hope this doesn't mean that he's going into the studio with a bunch of "hot" producers,to come up with a more trendy, commercial album.

Anyway, here is the tracklisting to 'Love Story' as it stands right now...

God Must Love You
Red Dress
Getting 2 Know U
Makin' Love
Love Song
Sentimental Reasons
Loneliness
Wish That I could Tell You
Together Forever
Still My Boo
I Promise (bonus track)

Has anyone heard any news? Has the album been scrapped completely in favor of a whole new album? Did the tepid response to the first single scare Arista, making them postpone the project?

I never understood that. It's like.. Babyface himself was an outsourced producer for years, and still blesses other artists from time-to-time (Janet's best new song "Thinkin Bout My Ex") so why would the label expect a talent such as his have ANY outside help? He's quite capable of writing hits (which is all labels really care about).

nod but the bottom line is,he's getting old. When that happens, the labels panic and begin to suggest that older artists "update" their sound by working with younger, hotter producers.Didn't Prince present a new album to Arista in 2000,only to have them reject it and suggest that he work with a producer?
