Lenny Kravitz @ grammys

I just heard that he won the Male Rock Vocal Performance category at the grammy's again. How many years has he won in this category? From my memory, It seems like he wins it every year.

He doesnt do much for me, his voice and songs all sound the same to me.

I just wanted to see other people's thought's on lenny's music.

well in my "spoiled by true greatness"opinion...he's an interesting artist mostly visually...yes he can carry a "rough around the edges" tune and play some kool drum beats from time to time and he even can do a 17 year olds best hendrix guitar impersination but if u notice...i said nothing GREAT!!!! because he's a package 2 me... maybe lacking a tad in the music department... GOD bless the boy and all of u.

Lenny's alright. But the grammy voters often get into a rut and vote for the same person over and over again.
Remember when DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince used to always win the rap category?
What I'd like to know is how come Prince's performance at the 1985 Grammys is never included in grammys greatest performances. That was clearly one of the best grammy performances ever.
Can u say blacklisted, children? I knew that you could.

Lenny Kravitz is currently in Italy to promote his album and ? for a live performance.
On the news, they talked about him as the one who substituted Prince, which of course is far from the truth.
Never particularly liked his music: now his songs all sound the same, I agree.
I used to like his old ballads, but not being a rock fan, I never liked his rock side.
Although I used to like some of his songs, I was never able to actually BUY an album: I used to pick one up, and then ALWAYS put it back.
Guess I never trusted him: he's got too many tatoos!!!!!

Grammy's are a commercial pad on the back. It is all about sales, not about a true reflection of reality.
It is a celebration of MONEY. And how to make more.

With over 100 categories and the push of a major label he was bound to win something. You know over the last couple of years I have been seriously listening to Jimmi Hendrix small back catalogue and that really puts someone like Lenny into context. I guess you know what i'm going to say but i'll say it anyway!. Whilst his firts two releases were, in my opinion, refreshing at the time in a retro funk kind of way he has just not moved on musically. He has done some great tracks [ i dare you not to funk to 'mamma said'] but all I really hear is a copy of Jimmi, listen to the the title track of Electric Ladyland and that pretty much covers a lot of Lennys sound[Shorty are you reading this!!]. Now i'm just embarrassed to listen to him. Lenny to me is like much of the music around today i.e. lite. There, glad that's off my chest time to put my flares and kaftan on and talk about the good ol' days!.
P.S IS IT ME OR IS PRINCE ALL OVER THE 'SUPERSOUL FIGHTER' TRACK' or did he just rip that off as well. Jeez i need to calm down.
Bye.

Lenny is the man! I have all his CDs. He does remind me of Prince in some ways, but he is his own musician. His music also has that positive love vibe that I dig.

I alwyas look for his singles too cuz there's usually a live track on them or two.

But I times he doesnt seem like they let him be as raw as he could be ya' know?

Some days he seems more industry them free!

Don't you would, if you could, make so much money with a job you love to do, like he and other artists?

I wouldn't say no, at the moment, I think. Look forward, in to the future. The show must go on!

I dig Lenny Kravitz but could not compare with Prince. They are so diffrent! As North and South.smile
