Skinny Puppy, "The Greater Wrong of the Right" Woo hoo, great day for new music today...new Felix da Housecat, new Miss Kittin (apparently - I can't find the damn thing), and holy 120 Minutes, Batman...a NEW SKINNY PUPPY ALBUM!!!
I haven't given it a spin yet, but the packaging is disgustingly delicious.

i heard it's far more mellow than anything they've ever done, though i'm sure "mellow" skinny puppy is gonna be a far cry from, say, hall & oates. i can't wait to listen to it. it's gonna be on my headphones on my way home from work tonight...

Crazy...certainly has been a long while. they will forever be one of the best concerts i have ever witnessed. they always brought one hell of a stage show. "Live" vivisections and all even partied with ogre and cevin about 13-14 years ago. and "Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse" is both a choice name and choice album cover. -peaceternal .

After listening to this last night, I've come to the conclusion that this may well be my second favorite Skinny Puppy album ever (the first being ViviSect VI, the title of which I'm sure I somehow misspelled). It's so much more focused than anything I've heard from them in a long time! And I don't know who called it "mellower", but I think The Process was far more "mellow" (for them, anyway) than this one.

I haven't given it a spin yet, but the packaging is disgustingly delicious. Though it's been several years since it happened, I still remember my surprise (shock?) when a nearly-elderly Writing professor mentioned Skinny Puppy during a lecture! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

Quick story - A fellow I knew named Kris used to have a poster in his apartment from the SP 87 tour. The opening act was Severed Heads. One day I was chatting with a fellow who was a friend of both myself and Kris, and he tells me "Kris has a poster on his wall from this weird band - "Skinny Puppies with Severed Heads"!
I patiently tried to explain to him that the name of the band was Skinny Puppy, and that Severed Heads were simply the opening act, but he would absolutely not accept that. He kept saying "No, no, no...the name of the band is "Skinny Puppies with Severed Heads". Finally I just said "Ok, fine - you're right"...

I never really got into them and I don't own any of their albums, but I'll be seeing them live next month. I'm curious. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Well, from all accounts (I've never seen 'em live), you can bet on it being one of those "never a dull moment" concerts. I hear lots of good things. On one tour they performed (fake but apparently very effective) vivisections on stage. I think you'll like 'em - I'll be interested to hear your take on SP.

I did see them in 87 - their stage show was pretty primitive at that point, and the sound was uniquely awful that night. I'm sure they're a completely different band live these days. I'll definitely go to a show if the opportunity presents itself, though I'm not really a fan anymore. I guess I'd go just for old-times sake...
