I'm lovin' those boots. She looks amazing for a 45 year old woman who has two children. Props to Maddy. Work it out, Girl! wink The costuming is very nice. I saw her doing a split on ET yesterday, and she was amazing. I love the fact that she's singing live and playing guitar. That interests me the most of all. The show sounds really fun and energetic. Okay, that was for the Pro side of me, not for the Con. This part pissed me off:

Imagine ---the most touching and sentimental part of the show. She had everyone in tears.Beautiful rendition and the video images are sad and depressing.Images of poverty, war and famine around the world. This was a key moment of the show.

How is she going to put this in her show, yet has a rap that mentions how she has 2 nannies, drinks double lattes and does pilates in AL? I hate when celebrities talk about world poverty, but you don't see them down-sizing on any of their lifestyle habits. She's talking about poverty, but how much of the proceeds from this concert are being donated to help stop that poverty? And, before any hardcore Madonna fans jump down my throat, let me clarify that I feel this way about many celebrities...not just Madonna. I don't really care if she's talking about the war part in this song or American Life, because war sucks for everyone and I agree with her, but poverty and famine are issues that most celebrities need to stray away from, especially after reading all the shit that she brings on tour with her. What's wrong with drinking regular tap water?!?! She has to have Kabblah water shipped in. I know that costs some dough, considering that gas prices are a bitch and you can't just stick a stamp on it and mail if for 37 cents. That money could go to helping these poverty-stricken countries get regular, running water. I just can't walk past someone on the street and see that their hungry and not offer to buy them some food....it's not my nature, but some people have no problem doing it. Sorry, but nothing sickens me more than when the rich try to make more money off the poor and don't donate back to them. If you're going to mention them, they should be getting some of that $300 per floor seat ticket money. But, instead most of that money is going to the expensive staging and costumes, most of which can be down-sized or done without entirely. I'd rather see an artist perform a more down-sized version of a show and know that the money is going to help the poor, than see a huge spectacle and have to watch poor people during that show....but that's just me. She's teaching her fans that we should help prevent poverty. Maybe she should be donating some of that $300+ million that she has to do the same. Okay, just had to get that off my chest. I'm a "say it like it is" gal. Madonna would be proud. smile

the point of mentioning all those material things on her cd is in the line "do you think i'm satisfied?" she is saying that all of these material things, and worrying about material life, is a mistake. now, whether or not she is strong enough to get out of those trappings is another thread entirely, lol.

EXACTLY! And the thing is, I've heard that Maddy is much like Prince, in that she donates to lots of charities, but doesn't talk much about it. Its never good to judge such things, because you never know where the person's heart actually is.

I hope you're right. I heard that she donates alot of the money she makes off of her children's books to charity. That's fabulous!! But, actions speak louder than words and she has a lot of stuff on this tour that she could live without for just 4 months of touring.

not a lot of the money...all of the money. well, in actuality, all of the profits. once she recoups the production costs of making the books, she sends the rest to the kabballah center she loves so much.

Yeah, here are a few of my problems:

- "Deeper And Deeper" is NOT meant to be a slow jam. Why fuck with perfection?
- a lot of dance tracks ("Nobody Knows Me", "Burning Up", etc.) feature just her singing at a mic or dancing alone; what's up with that?
- "Frozen" demands better production than "alone in front of a mic"; remember DWT?
- she apparently put most effort into one of her worst songs ("American Life"); guess she still isn't done trying to push that project
- "Bedtime Story" is only a video interlude; the song rocks, and her previous performances of it have kicked ass, so I'd miss that
- "cute", "disappointing", "poor in originality", "nothing spectacular", "a bit dull", "nothing exciting", etc. permeate this review - and this is coming from a hardcore fan. These are not words I normally associate with a Madonna tour.

Apparently she managed to pull off "Imagine", though.

When did she perform Betime Story? I have never seen/heard that live. I actually like it when she changes a classic tune. Usually those are my favorite parts to her concerts.

Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see any live rendition of Dear Jessie.

Multiple awards shows. My favourite performance of it was at The Brit Awards in '95.

It's a decent song. I like it a lot. She's promoting the album...so it seems fitting to do stuff from her latest...though not greatest. Maybe just do the singles and not the other songs.

VoicesCarry, the song "Amercan Life" reflects where Madonna is at these days, spiritually and emotionally. It's how she feels about the world, her quest for fame, and her attempt to live out the Amercan dream. There was no way she was gonna leave this song out of the setlist, and nor should she.And from reading most of the fan reviews,it seems to be getting a great reception.

Yes, well you and I have always differed in opinion re: the quality of that song.

here's another review with fan commentary. i must say, its funny how the media will have you believe that nobody likes madonna having a political view. isn't this the same woman who fought for gay rights and spoke out about AIDS? why is it a problem now that she speaks out against a war? the news media is pretty slick...anyway, here's the article:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/h...745329.stm

I always laugh when FANS complain about Madonna's political views.I mean, did these people just become fans yesterday?? Madonna has ALWAYS been outspoken and not afraid to say exactly what's on her mind. And why are these fans shocked that her tour contains an anti-war segment? Didn't they see the cover of her 'American Life' CD? Didn't they see (or at least hear about) the controversial video? Didn't they read her interviews from last year? Madonna has always had extreme views and she's never been afraid to express herself.I swear, some of these fans should just skip this tour and keep their lame asses at home.

Maybe it's because some fans go to a Madonna concert to be entertained and to forget about the stupidity that Bush has mired us in. It's a pop concert, right? They didn't sign up for a polemic.
