Personally, Stevie's 1976 release, Songs In The Key Of Life was the one that I love. Innervisions is a great one too, but there is no denying the brillance of Songs In The Key Of Life. 2 CD's with a booklet and 4-track EP, how can you beat that? Songs And Innervisions was the real peak of his career.

While I love them both, "Innervisions" is just undeniable.

Can't we like both?

In terms of a more cohesive statement I dig Innervisions the most. In terms of quantity of quality songs, SITKOL has more. It's good I don't have to choose, that would be cruel.

Innervisions - I like SITKOL, but I think this is the point where he crossed the line from being slightly but forgivably sappy to saccharine.

I hate to have to pick a favorite but if you absolutely forced me...

'Songs in The Key Of Life' lol

This is not only one of HIS best albums, and one of the best albums of the 70s,but quite possibly the best album of ALL-TIME ,in my humble opinion. It's a breathtaking experience to listen to this album all the way through.Stevie really created some amazing, inspired, mindblowing songs that just makes you scratch your head, wondering how he does it.There's a great documentary DVD about this album, and one of the musicians correctly points out that this album "takes you through the journey of life".It's like the ultimate concept album.

Songs in the Key of life
jam packed with great songs, particularly the first disc
Innervisions may appeal more to the rock crowd, though.
I like Talking Book Better than Innervisions, perhaps if only for Big Brother.

Definitely Innervisions. Much more consistent, in my opinion. I always thought that Songs In The Key Of Life was overrated. I believe that it is judged on it's length not it's content. Many people consider double albums great simply because they are longer. But I think both Talking Book and Innervisions contain much better songs.

I think it's judged on both aspects. But SITKOL isn't without its dross, I can't say that about Talking Book and Innervisions.

I consider 'Sitkol' to be the most consistent double-album I've ever heard, and I love every song on it.I'm sure many people judge it on it's length, but there is no denying the depth and vitality of the music. An album that boasts songs like "Village Ghetto Land","As","Pastime Paradise","Another Star","Summer Soft","I Am Singing","If It's Magic" and "Knocks Me Off My Feet" could NEVER be considered "overrated",imo.I'll be bold enough to say that,if you took the ten best songs from this album (take your pick) and made it into a single album, you would still have an album that rivals 'Innervisions' and 'Talking Book'.

Exactly. clapping Not to say that it's not a good album, but it's definitley not his best, IMO.
