Jewel's Mental Fit - Live, In Concert!

This is too, too rich:

http://www.seacoastonline.../17773.htm

Highlights from the trainwreck:

At one point, she asked the audience to yell requests and then told them to "shut the hell up."

"I don’t know if she was having a nervous breakdown or what. She told everyone to stop looking at her teeth and look at her breasts."

Halfway through the show, Dion said Jewel began to talk about Zoloft and Paxil for about 10 minutes. "I don’t know what that was all about," said Nicole Dion, who came from Canada to see the show. "I don’t know if she was on it or what. Maybe she didn’t take it."

"She said she saw a better audience at a barroom brawl and that all drinkers and smokers were sinners."

Jewel came out for an encore, but instead of singing one of her hit songs, she yodeled for a minute and then left the stage.

I'm such a big Jewel fan now! She is the Coutney Love of dance pop/folk/light rock/AC/van pop!

They so have to put that shit on DVD!

Put her on lithium. That'll fix her. She already has the glazed-over look down.

poor thing doesn't know if she wants to be britney spears or joni mitchell, so i guess she just split the difference and opted for courtney love. i can't really figure the math, but hey - i'm a big fan of embarrassing public diva fits, so i'm all for jewel in the rough!

I'm not a fan of Jewel, but I am a fan of fairness, so here is the other side of the story.

ok, i checked out the posts on that fan site link...sounds like she got screwed by the promoter and wound up in a rathole of a venue...but it still sounds like she was a wreck and a half at that show.

You should still be professional in the face of adversity. People still paid to see her. Those were her fans; not so sure about that now.

Why are so many female artists having problems these days? Lauryn Hill...Whitney...Mariah...Courtney Love....and now it looks like Jewel will be the next diva with major issues.

let's hear it for jewel! 0304 is tops. i give her credit for grabbing a piece of the pop diva pie, instead of trying to be another joni mitchell. she's young, talented and has got that charisma. go for it girl! sell yourself, just cash in!
"intuition" is one of the best songs of the '00s so far.

As far as I'm concerned, she lost it back when she started doing the pop-crap Britney/Christina thing. When I saw the video for "Intuition", I knew she must've gone off her rocker. She went from doing sentimental (somewhat sappy) heartfelt songs, to doing shit pop.

I've hated her and her snaggletooth grin since the day she appeared on the scene.

I think she lost it waaay back when she did that Kurt Loder interview for MTV and he pointed out that she had made up a whole new word in her book of poetry. lol Still makes me laugh everytime they re-play that part. Never was a Jewel fan, didn't mind her....just wasn't my cup of tea. Whoever said that she went from sentimental rock to shit pop wasn't lying. One moment she's singing about "Foolish Games" and then ::Snap:: "Intuition" comes out and confuses the hell outta me. It wasn't soo much the song as the video....who the hell was that? eek She went from Pajama bottoms and guitars to the now popular prostitute look and backup dancers, and then tried to say that it was just a joke....sure it was, just keep taking your Paxil, Dear. wink Hey, if she's doing her thing, more power to her...but this is classic.
