I Hate It So Much When : As a fan you go & buy the artis(s) CD on the first day of release a) because you are excited about listening to it & b) want to show your support.
Then, a few weeks later, sometimes only 2 weeks later the same damn CD is released with bonus tracks, WHY! Well, we know why. The RC know that fans who could be bothered to rush out on original day of release will, despite being annoyed beyond belief, buy the new version. This is SO unfair. We can't all afford to buy CD after CD, even if we want to. Lately, this type of thing is happening more & more. I can't begin to name all of them but 3 that spring to mind are : BEP Twista Mario Winans (less than 2 weeks later) Now, it's not too bad to re-release an album 6/12 months later with extra tracks if you have had a successful single but lately it's just ridiculous! Please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way? Jolajeph

i hate the way different countries get bonus tracks that aren't available on the American release. So if you're a fan in the States, you have to pay a fortune just to get an "import" copy.

yeah but at least you can buy music for cheaper in general. it costs more to buy a cd here in australia....but we DO get extra tracks, which is nice.

question: Why do Japan always get the special-edition, limited-edition, bonus-track, multi-disc versions of everything?

The reason why Japan almost always gets bonus tracks is becuase their CDs cost so damn much, so to stop bootlegging, most labels and big artists offer bonus tracks. I'm not sure, but I think that when you figure the exchange rate, they might just be paying nearly $40 American for a CD! $9.99 is probably unheard of! I still agree with you that it sucks that companies re-release albums with bonuses in order to get you to buy it again. Are you serious that they rereleased the Mario Winans CD? That is some sad shit!

THey usually have bonus tracks to use as an incentive to purchase the Jap releases as the imports from US/Europe are considerably cheaper, check out HMV.co.jp for examples

Sometimes Japan gets releases that arent made available worldwide.Herbie Hancock released several albums in Japan that you still cant find in the states. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."

one of my favorite bands, saint etienne will release their albums in the UK before the US, and so i'll wind up paying like 23 bucks for their record, then it'll come out domestically a couple months later with like a whole bonus disc of stuff and better packaging.
fortunately i don't like them now the way i used to, so i can wait for the domestic version... peaches did the same thing with her album, which i found really annoying - i bought that shit when it first came out, and when she got a little notoriety under her belt they wanted me to buy the album all over again for a few bonus tracks? oh, HELL naw!

Hence, the bonus tracks are an incentive to the buy the more expensive domestic editions. Looks like suckmyballs beat me to it [This message was edited Mon May 24 17:11:49 2004 by VoicesCarry]
