Did she ever get over her depression? Is there anything going to be dropped soon, whats the deal....? I miss L.Boogie.....
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.
And I am

Outside of the pic of her on the wall of my office, beats me.
Hopefully she'll resurface soon.

She's still wacky from what I hear...

Flying musicians down to her studio in Miami and having them wait days and weeks before they even play anything...then saying "God will reward them" when they ask when they're getting paid. whistling

what's crazy is that some people believe everything they read in rolling stone magazine. what's crazier is that some people just can't believe that someone would choose spiritual contentment over commercial musical success.

lauryn's made it clear where she stands as far as music goes. she'll do what she wants when she wants to. i miss the hell out of her sound but, ya know what? i'd rather her be in a rewarding place than be doing what everyone wants (and expects) her to do.

you know..i personally think lauren is nutty but you do make a good point about the money...im sure she has enough to never work again....so why bother creating music when your getting joy out of something else?

I've given up hope that we will get a new Lauryn Hill CD,and I think it's possible that Lauryn has quietly retired from the music biz.And how long do you think Sony is gonna wait for her to "get herself together" and deliver a new CD? It's a shame because she was arguably the most important artist in R&B/hip hop from the last ten years. But at least we still have 'Miseducation' to enjoy over and over.

Wow,is she really doing this? Didn't she have a similiar problem with the bandmembers/producers of 'Miseducation'? They sued her,if I'm not mistaken.

she wrote a book (The Middle Man, $75), has painted some art made up some posters ($50) and is writing mew material. It is clear from her website she's been taking Prince Law 101. Check it out: (especially at the bottom where it says, "All trademarks and other proprietary rights in and to Lauryn Hill's name image and likeness are owned and controlled by Lauryn Hill and/or L.H. Productions 2001, Inc.")

Poor Lauryn. She's just another in a very long line that's allowed religion to rule her life. What a waste of a great talent.

Those prices are absurd, but hey,she has to find some way to make money these days, since she no longer releases new music.

After she met her baby daddy who is the son of The Ledgen Bob Marley. She just had to take sometime out for herself. Whether it is religion or not it is her time.

She has worked on some projects that she was able to included some reagge music. So she hasn't wasted her talent.

Religion DOESN'T mess up a person, it supposed to HEAL them and pull them outta the hole. But what looks to me that my sista girl got alot of demons to deal with.

All hope, praise & props to my loveone, may Allah put her on the right clear path.

It can, though. Religion is just a word and doesn't mean anything if you don't have a personal relationship with God.

Don't let me get to whoopin' up in here!!!! falloff

But I feel what Harley is saying, though. I think Lauryn has got some serious demons she's got to get rid of and it may take some time before she sorts them out and gets it together. Who knows? shrug

I see yo point but what I'm trying to say is that religion is like the map to the cave's getaway so to speak, it depends on the INDIVIDUAL on how to use this map. It could lead them out or it could keep them in that cave.

In L-Boogie's case, she's leaning to religion to get rid of her demons. Its NOT the religion that messed her up, its her HEAD that messed her up sadly. Demons were on her HEAD long b4 she went to that voodoo priest as far as I know.

From what I've read, Lauryn went from beleiveing the hype, to realizing that it just wasnt for her. As far as she is concerned, al the success that she found brought her no happiness so she decided to make some changes. It takes a strong sista to trun her back on bookoo millions and search for her truth. Now, will I buy a $75.00 book?hmm: Hell no. But I respect her commitment to what she believes

I don't think she's 'turning her back' on her millions. I doubt she's returning those royalty checks that are coming in. And I don't remember her renouncing her association from Sister Act, and we all know how many times they show that on TNT. Can we say, "royalties"???? LOL!

true indeed. I'm sure those royalty checks are coming in handy. biggrin What I meant was that she seems to have turned her back on the very machine/industry that was fiending for her to release Mis-education pt.2. She was pretty much guaranteed the spotlight and all that comes with it ( $ included). I was really referring to future endeavors.

You know what really bothers me about Lauryn? She's free to do as she pleases...she can make a new album, and release it this year or five years from now.Or she can decide to never release a new CD ever again. No problem. But at least show some respect to her fans/supporters by letting us know something! If you're done with the music biz, fine.I don't think any of us are gonna roll over and die, even though we will miss her music.Announce your retirement and your fans can move on to something else.I just hate hearing about a "new album" that may not ever arrive. And it's a shame that most of the "news" on Lauryn doesn't even come from her official site.Fans are forced to look elsewhere for news, since the news on her official site is rarely updated. And before anybody gets on here saying "She doesn't owe us anything",blah blah blah...yeah you're right. And I'm not demanding anything. But still,it would be nice to know something, one way or another.
