Yeah, I really miss D. Voodoo is an amazing cd. I just listened to it over the weekend and it's still one of my favourites.

i dunno, but I was readin' his interview and he started talkin' bout P.: read-on reading

?uestlove's words are in brown italics.
and
D'angelo's words are in yellow.

...so on a lighter note. The night we played with Prince.

(KOOL AID SMILE)

Yo man that night was so surreal....

Did it shock you that he forgot the bridge to "The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker"?

But we had his back though. I just want to work with him. Make him do some '82 shit with the deep drums, and the synth. I wanna see him go there again. Back to some raw funk shit.

So what are our plans now. Today can be the beginning of a new movement. From what I hear there will be 2000 people in Brooklyn in the snow waitin for you.....

Awww nigga, I just wanna bring the funk to the people. I can care less about if we sale millions or not. I just wanna funk.

END.

I was just talking to a co-worker about D'Angelo and then came across this thread. I'm listening to the Brown Sugar CD right now. I like Brown Sugar better than Voodoo. Just my opinion. Most people like Voodoo better but I disagree.

I really like Brown Sugar, but I found Voodoo to be a little different so I guess that's what attracted me to it more than Brown Sugar. I think D is great and I wish he would record more often.

I've actually heard more of the exact opposite, so maybe they're both equally liked? confuse

man i love D...i wish to god he would get up off that lazy ass and put out an album. i love when he works with raphael saadiq too, they got a good music chemistry going. i loved raphael from back when he was with Tony, toni, tone'!!! and they was hot too, so u know i love Big D. Damn his presence is really needed in the industry right now, kinda how P's presence was needed and he came right on time.

i love D's song from off of Brown sugar called Smooth, damn thats my shyt!!!! That whole album was tight especially "me and those dreamin' eyes of mine" and "lady"..damn bringing back memories from middle school....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They're working together now. Supposedly, they've only laid down guitar and bass to their songs...no keys whatsoever. Should be interesting.

The Brown Sugar CD was just more commercial & nore hip hop than Vodoo - but Vodoo was more underground and focused more on the music. Their both masterpieces.

Couldn't agree with you more! I do have both of them. It's great putting them in the CD player together and hitting random. You can definitely hear the difference in the two styles of the albums. I bought Voodoo without even hearing any songs off it since I liked Brown Sugar so much. Maybe I was expecting it to be more commercial. Regardless I wasn't disappointed that's for sure!

Me, too. clapping

But I really bought it after wearing out my vinyl of "Left & Right" b/w "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" for about two months before the album hit stores. lol

same here. I had already played Untitled out before he even thought to release it as a single. Playing that 12" gave me the same feeling I had when I bought Prince 12"s back in the day.

Speaking of "Untitled", its funny how so many "fams" on this site were overjoyed when Prince & Angie Stone released "U Make My Sun Shine". Folks commenting that Prince was showing D how its done, etc., yet no one ever speaks of it anymore. UMMSS wasn't nearly as effective of a ballad. Even though its not my favorite D ballad, homeboy sure did make a hell of an impression (especially on women with that video). He STILL gets talked about around here - and people are STILL hating on him. Too funny. If he was so lame and insignificant, why bother? LOL!
