Jam and Lewis

These guys just keep makin the hits. Amazing how many hits they continue to have year after year. I would really like them to work with Prince on a few new tracks to see what they could come up with. I know Jam and Lewis could get him on the radio again.

As big a Jam and Lewis fan as I am, I have to say I think these cats are just about burned out. The last few years hasn't brought much to the table in the way of freshness. Other than Janet they really haven't been hit makers in the last 6 or 7 years so them helping Prince seems like a reach.

Getting Prince on the radio consistently costs $$$. It has nothing to do with anything a producer would contribute to an album. It's about major record labels paying money to get their music played. This is why you don't hear much independent music on mainstream radio stations.

I don't see what exactly Jam & Lewis could add to Prince's music that Prince couldn't do better by himself. Jam & Lewis' claim to fame are hit records, not necessarily artistic progression.

I would just like to see what they would come up with, the guys had some great singles this year- All For You, Someone to call My Lover, Isley Bros, Yolanda Adams, Mary J Blige, Mya, Shaggy, Sting, Blu Cantrell, Usher "U Remind Me", I liked some of Mariah's Glitter too. I dunno, it just might be cool to hear something from them with Prince again. I think the Rave production was really dated.

I agree!!

Jam & Lewis will still milk it .. but there "peak" was with Janet.. the reason for that was because Janet had her own vision..she knew what she wanted more or less..

everyone else they work with TRY to capture that "janet vibe".. and it just is flat

I hate to say it.. but the truth is renee her ex husband did help allot also!!!

I like Jam and Lewis,but I gotta admit,their new music sounds bland and uninspired.They use ALOT of samples in their most recent productions.Janet's hit "All For You" uses the music from the 1980 Change hit "The Glow Of Love",and her follow-up single "Someone To Call My Lover" relies on a sample from an America song,while the third single "Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" is just a rewrite of an old Carly Simon hit.I realize that MANY other R&B artists and producers use samples,but damn,Jam and Lewis can actually PLAY! They have the talent to come up with original ideas.Let Puffy deal with samples,these guys can do better than that!

Hell,just look at all these great tracks they produced in the 80s...

***"High Hopes" SOS Band(1982)---my favorite J&L song!!!!

***"Can You Treat Me Like She Does?" Real To Real (1983)---An early classic!

***"I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" Cherelle(1984)---One of their strongest,catchiest jams!

***"The Men All Pause" Klymaxx(1984)--- Irresistible funk,full of attitude and sophistication.

***"You're Number One (In My Book)" Gladys Knight and The Pips (1983)--- A soulful delight!

***"Innocent" Alexander O'Neal (1985)---These guys are genuises at creating HOOKS that are fun to sing along to.

***"The Heat Of Heat"Patti Austin (1986)--- A sultry,sexy track with an intoxicating melody.

Jam and Lewis. Great producers. I prefer their style of production over that of LA Reid and Babyface their competition in the 80's. More grittier with heavy emphasis on the groove. They groove really well. Favorite Jam And Lewis produced album.....

* Janet Jackson-Rhythm Nation

* Cherrelle-Affair

* Alexander O Neal-Hearsay

* Alexander O' Neal-All True Man

* Janet Jackson-Control

Also

* Rhonda Clark-State Of Attraction.....Anybody remember this jam. This was the only hit she had, But Jam And Lewis hooked her with an infectious hook and groove. Great stuff.
