She's free to do as she pleases...she can make a new album, and release it this year or five years from now.Or she can decide to never release a new CD ever again. No problem. But at least show some respect to her fans/supporters by letting us know something! If you're done with the music biz, fine.I don't think any of us are gonna roll over and die, even though we will miss her music.Announce your retirement and your fans can move on to something else.I just hate hearing about a "new album" that may not ever arrive. And it's a shame that most of the "news" on Lauryn doesn't even come from her official site.Fans are forced to look elsewhere for news, since the news on her official site is rarely updated. And before anybody gets on here saying "She doesn't owe us anything",blah blah blah...yeah you're right. And I'm not demanding anything. But still,it would be nice to know something, one way or another.
maybe she doesn't want "fans." she has clearly stated that she doesn't feel the need to answer to people simply because they buy her records. i think that is a common misconception by fans of pop stars. we choose, of our own accord, to purchase a record. hopefully, it is money well spent and we like the release. when we do like it we then expect the performer to do what's best for us throughout their career. nope. lauryn is bein' lauryn. and i think that's cool. Well,if she doesn't want "fans",then she's in the wrong business, dontcha think? LOL..I'm sure most of her fans can find other artists to listen to and enjoy. But just show some respect and let them know something. She could close her website, announce that there won't be any more music and officially retire.I don't think that's asking for too much.Don't keep your supporters waiting for an album that's never gonna arrive.Basically, all I'm saying is....tell us something, either way. It's silly to keep seeing threads that ask "Where is Lauryn Hill?" and having to get news about her from other sources besides her own official site.(and btw,I feel this way about ANY artist who doesn't keep their fans updated on their new music). I think that,in the end,Lauryn is just one of those amazingly gifted artists who just couldn't handle the pressures of fame and mass popularity. So most likely, she's just gonna give it all up.It's a shame, but like I said,we still have at least one great album ('Miseducation' ) to enjoy. ...
