Any of you orgers remember Randy Hansen (the Hendrix impersonator)? What ever happen to him? I still have the two albums he put out. I haen't heard anything about him in years. Is he still around somewhere, doing local clubs? Before SRV, Randy was the closest as to getting that Hendrix tone.

Yeah, I always wondered about that, too, he used to do some uncanny Hendrix imitations. I remember Francis Ford Coppola used him for some Hendrix-guitar in "Apocalypse Now"...I have no idea what happened to him...

I saw him at the troubadour in hollywood in about 86. I'm not much for impersonators, but I have to say he was pretty great. Haven't thought about him in a long time.

I think this goes to show that we are the old folkies on this site. Only three orgers even heard of him! Well let's more on to the Britney Spears forums. Sad! Sad!

The band I was in at the time opened for him at FSU (late '70s?).

Remaining recollections:
1. He's really short.
2. At the beginning of the show he was able to hold his breath for what seemed like an eternity before raising up from under the layer of fog.
3. He pretty faithfully copped many of the Hendrix guitar tones.

From his website (don't know if this is good or bad):
"Bill Gates is one of the biggest fans of Randy Hansen and books him regularly."

From what I understand, he's tried to break away from the Tribute thing periodically but apparently always returns to it.
