The KISS Thread...

I've been a fan of KISS before I was a fan of Prince...
I've been recently diggin out all of my old albums...and giving them a spin... eek WOW...
watching old videos... eek headbang

I am still partial to the ORIGINAL MEMBERS...seeing them all onstage again during their Unplugged special...was just incredible. biggrin But....even the late 80's early 90's stuff is still good...atleast to me.

I recently got a hold of Kiss Symphony on DVD...it's incredible...even though I really missed Ace Frehley. sad But we all can't have everything...

I first heard them when I was 6 or so...and until I was 9, they enveloped the walls of my bedroom, my record player and my waredrobe... I've always had a passion for KISS...guess I always will....They've had 30 years in the business now.... eek DAMN!! (I'm OLD)

Anyone else here fans of KISS?!?! kiss2

"I was made for lovin' you baby...you were made for lovin' me" headbang music

I recently bought a greatest hits compilation by Kiss (mainly for the song listed above) and I was pleasantly surprised at how many good songs they have."Beth" is another favorite of mine.Do you remember in 1978 when they all did solo albums? I love Ace Frehley's song "New York Groove",which is also on this compilation.

It was the only "solo" album I bought...cuz Ace was my guitar hero... "New York Groove"...I love it too... biggrin

"I was made for lovin' you"...wasn't / still isn't one of my favorites...I realized how HUGE of a hit it was in Europe when I moved here...back when all the rock bands were putting their hands in the disco mix. It was a huge hit in Holland...their only one. When you say "KISS"..they think of that song. rolleyes

I think that "DOUBLE PLATINUM" is the album to get if you want a greatest hits compilation...it came out in '78...(old..yes...but GREAT!!!) and "ALIVE II" is still their best LIVE album...'77

I'm old... lol

I fucking LOVE KISS!!! headbang I must dig out some pix I have 4 ur site babe! Paul Stanley is the man!! Had backstage passes 4 Donnington Monsters of Rock mid ninties, and got 2 meet them all briefly - IN FULL MAKE UP!!! I was one very happy puppy I can tell ya! They were just walkign through the backstage area 2 their VIP hopitality tent, so just got 2 press the flesh - but that was enough 2 make me smile from ear 2 ear - especially meeting The Demon face 2 face! omg bow

Shame Gene's new solo album sucks like Monica Lewinsky tho. eek

(His version of the Prodigy's 'Firestarter' is just cringe-worhty...
eek

WOW..omg..to meet Paul Stanley in the flesh eek ...would be a dream....infact, all of them would be groovy....but I'm partial to Paul and Ace though...batting eyes It's nice to know there are others out there who love them like I do...

headbang

I don't really dig the solo shit...I think they are much better as a band....with the exception of Ace's solo album from78. (as stated above) biggrin

I still had those bubblegum cards up until 3 years ago....lost them in a move bawl
The gum was hard as a fucking rock though...covered in that white powder shit...I can still taste it to this day...

Ace's was the best solo album.. I was Ace every year for Halloween from age 6 till about 11. smile My mother made my costume with ALUMINUM FOIL on a pair of snow boots, the shoulder pads were heavily laced with FOIL too...and I had a black cape with silver glitter to spell out KISS on the back...I can still smell the make-up...

eek God, I remember that package....
Good memories...

I wish I still had all my posters... bawl

OMG I've just seen this thread - THIS IS SO COOL!!!!! eek woot!

I've been a Kiss fan since before I was a Prince fan, too...I've been into them since 1981 when I first taped "Radioactive" off the radio LOL

Gene and Paul (in particular Gene, tho) I have SO much respect for and they've been inspiration to me in a big way growing up...they were my first "love" musically and always will be!!!

I saw them on Monday and Tuesday night here in Sydney and they ROCKED!! The show at the Superdome (one of our big stadiums ) was awesome but the show on Tuesday night at one of our very small venues (for thier "in your face" shows they did here) was THE BEST! just the guys on stage 10 metres from us cutting loose and mucking around with each other and all of us! they were having SO much fun and so were we!

It was 1976 when I first heard of them...from an older girl in the neighborhood that had their albums...in about a year or so...I had them all too...and just kept going.

They were my first love musically too...

I remember my mother bought me "Alive II" from the A&P Supermarket.... eek

yes, KISS is the hottest band in the world!!! ALIVE II was the first album i ever fell in love with (january 1978). how many times have i seen KISS through the years? 2 many 2 count but around 16 or so. eye am OLD!!!
does anyone here dig "the elder"? back in '81 when KISS was about as hot as january in montreal, they did this "concept" album to a film that never came out (stevie, are u listening?) produced by bob ezrin and songs written with lou reed. it rocks!! they diss it now, say it sounds like genesis, but i liked it when KISS stretched out a bit. "great expectations" from destroyer ('76) is another fave.

"The Elder" was a good album, actually...I agree and "Great Expectations" is a good song...they actually performed it with a children's choir on the KISS SYMPHONY DVD...

Remember the "World without Heroes" video...when Gene cut his hair... eek good song though... lol
