Why Does Aretha R-E-S-E-N-T Most Female Singers Out There?

I just finished reading her cheap ass dirty laundry book and most of the shit that I see are more and MORE resentful ENERGIES 2ward fellow sistas in the struggle(Guess what? That Natalie Cole shit didn't end even tho Natalie is putting it ALL behind).

Other than Chaka, Sarah Vaughan, Ella, Dinah Washington & Billie Holiday. I didn't hear speak in respect 4 other women AT ALL(not even her sisters).

Goddness, what is it with this ol' broad? From the get-go I don't hear nothing but her beefing with this person and that person when women are INVOLVED in her circle.

I mean I love the bitch but damn,,,she's truely FUCKED UP as hell disbelief

But how do you really know that the book is even true? "Dirty laundry" sells, whether it's true or not. I think I vaguely remember a minor brouhaha with Natalie Cole, but am not exactly sure to what you're referring to. I've never gotten the impression Aretha was resentful of anyone.

What's the gist of the rift? Wasn't Natalie being a busybody? confused

I've read Aretha's book and Natalie's book, and it seems the two of them had problems in the 70s because of the way Natalie was marketed. When she arrived on the scene in 1975,many critics and record execs were saying that she was "the next Aretha".This infuriated Aretha, and according to Natalie, the Queen of Soul would ignore her at Award shows and parties.Natalie always admired Aretha and would never try to steal her crown, but Aretha thought otherwise.

Interestingly enough, the song "I've Got Love On My Mind" was originally offered to Aretha in 1976,but she turned it down.Natalie recorded it and it became one of her biggest hits.

Aries women are very vain and insecure. They compete when there's no need for competition. It's kinda sad to see.

Thats just bullshit stereotype, my OWN mother and many women I know are TRUE arians and they're not vain nor inscure.

However, its true that they love the confrontation and the competition.

Wow Pook, you took the words right out of my mouth. Aretha is a great singer, but she hasn't done a damn thing worth anyone's time in years.

Most legends don't have to...their previous work speaks for itself.

Aretha could make an album of soundbites consisting of her eating Popeye's chicken and it wouldn't matter because she's already got classic albums like these under her belt.

That would be MY interpretation of how they act. Sorry. I find them to be insecure.

Hmmm. I see. Now that I've thought about it, I was thinking of some other female singer that had a rift with Aretha that went to more serious depths.

It would seem that over the years (Natalie was in her heyday in the '70s) that Aretha would be over that now.

I love Aretha and I consider her to be the great vocalist of all time. But I have noticed how she acts around other singers at award shows...etc. I actally pulled out some old award show tapes and saw Aunt Re Re sing with Whitney, CeCe Winans, Brandy, Chaka, and Mary J Blige at the end of a 'Waiting To Exhale' medley at the '97 Grammies and she came out at the end trying to outsing everyone else and it sounded like her screaming.

Classic moment is 1998 VH-1 DIVAS and Aretha tearing the roof off leaving Mariah, Shania, Gloria, Carole King, and Celine (who though she could outsing the Queen) shaking in their boots.

I'm sure holds herself above many but who cares...the woman has paid her dues and proved her talent many times over. LADY SOUL and YOUNG, GIFTED, & BLACK are 2 amazing albums!
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I was rolling my eyes when that skinny bitch was wailling over Ree in that gospel medly at the end but please believe that I had the most pleasent belly laugh when Aunt ReRe let Celine have it at the end, just look at her facial expression lol poor thing didn't knew what to do.

But Aunt ReRe was pleased the most with Mariah, calling her "my little sister girl" in the press confrence after the event .

Maybe it's because outside of Whitney, Celine and Mariah (and Christina with a vocal coach, at times), today's female singers simply cannot sing. You could add all their voices up together and they'd still not come close to Aretha's humming.

OK, here's some examples. I'm not very insecure, but I find that Aries women are.

1. Aretha Franklin-- She's mad cuz her fat ass is old, and she wants to be the queen of all time. Ain't gonna happen, so she's pissed.

2. Mariah Carey-- Can we say psycho? She's an Aries too. WAY insecure.

3. Diana Ross-- I find her to be insecure too.

4. My best friend--Goddamn! This girl will take three hours to do her makeup, another hour to do her hair, and all she has to say when we finally DO go out is shit about all the other women. INSECURE.

5. My niece-- SO insecure, it's almost pathological. Think Mariah Carey, and that's my niece.

Now I said that SOME of them are like this, and you all got your panties in a bunch. The truth is uncomfortable, I know. It is true that Aries women are vain and insecure. If you guys don't like that, tough shit. lol

Basic Profile:
Outgoing, Extravert, Energetic, Dynamic, Courageous, Generous, Strong, Extravagant but sometimes can be ARROGANT, INSECURE, JEALOUS, concerned with looks and others' opinion.

we all have faults, gemini's included.

gemini: Nervous and tense; Superficial and inconsistent; two faced

you've got the superficial part down pat. rolleyes

there's much more to people than there sun sign. there's the moon, rising, venus, etc. that all play a big role in tempering the individual's personality. to blame someone's behavior on just their sun sign is rather shallow and very incomplete. i'm sure there is much more to aretha, and the rest of us, than that.

I think, and I have always thought, that Aretha Franklin is very ovrerrated. She's an okay singer, but she is really average compared to Gladys Knight, who is the real Queen of Soul. Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner... those are real vocalists.

Aretha? Hmm.
