There's that chip (more like a boulder) again. I'm sure you'll get over it too, one day. You didn't paraprhase, you clearly got it wrong.

Reading is fundamental. Comprehension is VITAL. This thread has sort of become like that thread where Okaypimpn compared the lives of both R. Kelly and Marvin Gaye, and a lot of knee jerk reactionaries went off the deep end because they didn't READ the fact that he never compared them on a talent or musical impact level.

You don't really care to know what I think about it with that response.

Why don't you let ME decide what I want to know, thank you. Did you listen to the CD? What are your thoughts on it? Why are you avoiding the questions?

stfu Dude, you gotta mellow out with how you approach certain folks. It ain't as serious as you let it become.

Avoiding the questions? Quite honestly, I picked up this cd almost 2 weeks ago, and have only sunk my teeth into it in the past few days. I don't want to give a knee jerk reaction opinion of it, because in the past I've dug albums immediately that ended up not having staying power with me, and on the other side of the coin there were albums that didn't have any immediacy with me that I later on ended up being enamored with.

My initial reaction is this: he stands out among his peers. He doesn't sound exactly like any single one of his influences, though you can hear them all in his overall sound. That's fine, that's really the case for everybody when you get right down to it. But he's no retro Lenny Kravitz, that's for sure.

Van definitely has talent, and there is obvious depth there, musically and lyrically. This album has so far stuck to my ribs. "Her December" is some swingin chit! I DO dig "Dust" a lot. I hear more potential in him than I do in most of those in the media labeled "Neo Soul" movement in general.

A week from now I may even dig this album more than I do right now. Or not. For now I'm digging the bulk of it.

Thank you for dropping your 2 cents in on the thread. Unlike SquarePeg, you've now contributed to the subject of the post. Might I add, you also have the tendency to rub people the wrong way with your approach. The condescending holier-than-thou-ish tone of some of your past posts have sparked a many a fued on here. However, I digress.
At least you posted an opinion.

lol Yeah, you in glass houses just keep throwing those stones. That boulder on your shoulder has led to your verbal attacks on anybody and everybody who doesn't agree with your musical opinions on this site - and there are a myriad examples of that. That's a fact, whether you realize it or not your knee jerk reaction to curse people out in other threads because their opinions may be completely stupid is legendary for all the wrong reasons, and reveals you take this internet posting shit too seriously. You find yourself in dumbass, heated arguments here ALL the time here, and that can't be said of everybody. Somebody with your rep's got no business calling someone else "condescending," so hop off that towering, hypocritical horse. Whatever floats your high-strung boat, it's no skin off my nose.

Thanks babe! kotc

I feel what SquarePeg is saying, but I don't wanna be caught up in whatever drama is going down. Like Angie says...

"...Keep my name, out your mouth
Until you got somethin worth talkin bout

Keep your hands, to yourself
Cause I belong to someone else"

well excuse me, I meant no harm, and I'm not trying to drag anyone into any "drama"...you might wanna look into blaque's direction when you make that accusation rolleyes

wasn't an accusation. I has trying to help you. Flaming another orger is easy. I figured you didn't want to head that way. As for Blaque, he was simply trying to elicit a response from everybody. It's not his fault if his questions go unanswered/avoided.
