Motown 45 = awful

So far...so bad...the Supremes with Kelly (Destiny Child) posing as Diana Ross was lacking a lot of everything. The four tops did well but I can't get into those tribute shows were other less talented artist are trying to sing Stevie Wonder songs and so forth. I think the ratings will be high for the first 30 minutes - 60 minutes but it will get pretty low soon enough. Oh well, I was really looking forward to it.

A far cry from Motown 25, uh? LOL

I'm glad I missed it.

May, Motown 50 will be better or even twice as good as Motown 25.

Hey, where was Michael and the Jacksons eh?

Everyone knows their (or his) performance!

The Jackson 5 were the last 'big' motown act! I think they still could of turned it out, publicity would of been good too, but too much pressure to do a Motown 25 so.....!

Jeramine was their though wasn't he?

Y'know I was going to go into this here but then I thought what's the point.

Favorite parts - -

Gladys Knight, just left me in awe of her talent after all of these years or maybe it was the absence of talent with everyone else that made her shine.

- Brian McKnight singing what's goin on, he was really trying but it was decent

- Joss Stone trying to keep up with Smokey and failing miserably (she knew it)

Worse Parts -

Where do you start? It was such a train wreck;
Macy Gray butchering Marvin Gaye, has she always had a wandering eye?
The Backstreet Boys - hasn't their 10 minutes been up for 5 years?
George Lopez trying to be a pimp, who is this guy and why was he there?
Lionel Ritchie, couldn't join the commodores for one song and has sold his soul to the devil obviously

Overall I can't wait for a real celebration of Motown music when Stevie Wonder, Rick James and the rest of the artists show up. No posing dancers, shitty bands and fake everything.

You KNOW a Motown show is in trouble when you can't even get STEVIE to show up...(and He's got a new album to plug!!)

Hey, I enjoyed some of it, especially when Gladys Knight and the Pips (Bubba, Cedric, George Lopez and that young man from that boy band) performed. Classic, you can't get any better than that.

I didn't think much of the show either, but I did enjoy Gladys Knight. She still has a killer voice. I also enjoyed see the Temptations again too. For the most part, the guest were pretty lame.

No Rick James! But he is Rick James, bitch! Darkness!

Glad I avoided it. It sounded like a joke considering that so very few Motown artists were part of it! I heard Wayne Brady was doing "Supersitious". Uh...wha? You couldn't get Stevie to do it? What a joke. Maybe they are waiting for Motown 50.

At Dennis Rich's B-day birthday, Donna Summer (not Motown), Ashford and Simpson (wrote for Motown) and Stevie where all singing Beatles songs at a paino. The catch? It was Dennis Rich's B-day! Must be nice to be rich and famous and have rich and famous friends that will preform! Us poor TV watching slobs are stuck with Joss Stone!

I tuned in late, and to my horror, right in the middle of a production number featuring Wayne Brady eek doing "I Wish".
It was all downhill for me after that.

Temptations - Who were those guys?
Lionel Ritchie - Lame
Michael McDonald - Tryin' too hard
Commodores - Where's the band?

If Motown can't get enough original performers from their old school roster they might consider focusing on younger acts doing their own material.

If they couldn't get many of the original artists, they should have just cancelled it altogehter.I couldn't imagine watching a Motown special without these artists at least...

Stevie Wonder
Diana Ross
Mary Wilson
DeBarge
Teena Marie
Rick James
Thelma Houston
Remy Shand (to represent the "new" Motown)
