Yeah, but Britney mimes even when she's intensely still. Other performers do not. That's the point.

U dont have 2 be Madonna 2 reinvent urself..at least she could cut her hair..dye it (more than just for one video). Prince does it all the time, Lenny is doin it, Lots O artists Pink, Christina change themselves...Justin...just keeps getting worse.. lol!

Britney really needs some better vocal coaches cuz her vox are 2 thin 2 even handle live shows... Janet dance the fuck off and goin on 40 and still sings live somehow.

now wait...she should cut or dye her hair because you think she should? or because madonna, christina and lenny change their hairstyles? isn't that what she gets knocked for all the tme already...being like other people? i don't get it. if she copies other people she is a no talent hack and can't think for herself. if she doesn't copy other people she is boring and needs to follow in there footsteps. hmmm...i guess she just can't win with some people.

u dont have 2 copy others just 2 look new n fresh.... Lil Kim does it all the time lol!

That's another thing... i remember Lil Kim asking Britney Spears a question and making nice comments 2 her on her music..and she told Carson that she had a very stink attitude and was stuck up...didnt even shake her hand. Bitch. She said this happened 2 times!

"yes, britney does sing "everytime", the one ballad of the night."

Not according to the critics who've reviewed the show (or people I know who've seen it - and admitted to seeing it).

i absolutely agree! nod i would NEVER call britney spears an artist, lol! no, she is definitely an entertainer. i hope, for her sake, she grows into an artist but at this point in her life she is solely an entertainer. that is actually pretty much my whole point. its supposed to be entertainment. if i want thought provoking work i'll listen to joni, dylan, or some other brilliant mind. i fully expect artists like them to have something to say and an important message behind their work.

to say because she lip syncs she has no talent is just crazy. her talent isn't in her voice and i don't really think she's ever acted like she's a great singer. she's always presented herself as an entertainer. you know, we are sitting here talking about her which means she had made it to a successful career. she must be doing something right because their are hundreds of thousands of dancers/performers who never make it. yes, she had strong people behind her but, in the end, it was her doing the pushing and self-motivating that enabled her to succeed. at the very least there's talent there. if there weren't, everyone could be famous and successful in the entertainment industry.

You can take any blonde moppet with no discernible talent and turn her into a star these days, as long as you sell her right. Evidence: Olsen Twins.

media sensation? yes. star? well, if you ask my mother who he is she'll say "who?". if you ask her who britney is, not only will she be able to tell you who she is but she'll be able to name a few songs. that's a star. will hung is a trend. oops...he WAS a trend.

No! She can stay in New York or LA. Louisiana doesn't want her back. I don't see how people can call all that nauseating gyrating she does 'dancing'.....these people must have never been to a club in their entire lives. I've seen club-goers who can do 10 times better dance moves than she can and she's paying the top choreographers to train her. Not to mention, the personal trainers that she pays $1000+ a week to keep her body looking like that. She'd expand like a bloated pig without their help. I actually watched her Showtime concert special and was surpised that she calls her shows live, but can only open her face one time the entire show to sing one song, a ballad that was WAAAAY off-key and she just stood there like a brain-dead puppet. confused Live my ass! Plus, I don't consider a couple high kicks, some spins, and straddling your backup dancers to be dancing....guess my standards are pretty high. She's such a carbon copy of Janet, Madonna, and Aaliyah, that I don't understand why people make such a fuss over the girl. She really is nothing special. Being from Louisiana, I see girls that look just like her or better than her everyday, so I guess all these people who think that she's gorgeous or whatever should take a trip to Louisiana and see what more it has to offer than just Britney Spears. By Louisiana standards, she's just cute and average. Plus, that "it's hard to dance and sing" statement is mad retarded, because she lip-synced her ass off on the last VMAs and all she had to do was walk down the friggin cake....she can carry a tune just like 80% of the world, but she's not a bonafide singer, or even that great of a dancer/entertainer to me. Tina Turner used to dance her butt off and she could still open her mouth and sing...so can Patti and she's all over the stage half the time. Shoot, even Christina can dance and sing live. Britney's songs are not hard to sing...most of them consist of one or two notes that require no range whatsoever....so she could try and sing them live. But, when you are at a two pack a day habit, I guess it just makes it harder. She may be selling millions of records, but that's thanks to her production team, the songwriters, the make-up artists, the stylists, the top-notch choreographers, and JIVE....take all that away and people wouldn't look at her twice. She's just soo overrated; it's disturbing. sad

Pictures I've seen of her lately say otherwise. Her weight has been going up and down more than kids on a see-saw recently. She looks quite chubby after her recent drinking/fast food binge. Plus, it's hard not to know about someone who is in practically every facet of entertainment....She was on the TV Guide Channel for Pete's sake. My post consists of basic information that almost anyone can discover by just watching her perform at any previous awards show or by just watching MTV or VH1. This is general stuff. Plus, most artists pay that much for personal trainers (ie Beyonce, Christina, etc.), so I'm sure Britney does the same, since she can afford it and all. The only way to escape her is to live on a deserted island. Not to mention, that I've met a lot of people who grew up with her and bring her up in conversation being that I'm from Louisiana and all....most of them have nothing extraordinary to say about her. She's overrated in the looks department, because, like I said, I see girls that look just like her everyday. To me, she's entertaining, but not in her shows, her music, or her dancing.....just her stupid antics that she tries to pass off as 'growing up'....rolleyes yeah, whatever. Plus, you'd pay attention to an artist to if you kept hearing people make comments like, "Oh, she's from Louisiana, so that explains why she made those dumb statements." I can't tell you how many times I've heard this. Just because she's a space cadet, doesn't mean everyone in her state has the same low IQ. She degrades our state more than Baby from Cash Money....disbelief

smile Yep, you're a Britney Fan....only they can use the old "why waste your time on an artist/celebrity you don't like" response. Last I read on this thread, I'm not the only person who isn't fond of Ms. Spears. I'm not too big on many of the artists you mentioned above either, but I do know general information about them from talking to people who are fans of them and by just watching MTV, VH1, and other entertainment shows....plus, I have a subscription to Entertainment Weekly and these artists are mentioned every so often in detail within those pages. You'd have to be unable to read or have no access to a radio or TV to not know something about these people. I know Usher's last name, because his song was on the radio and he says it in "Nice and Slow", but I'm not a fan.....maybe I should just not know anything about any celebrity so I don't have to constantly hear this response or the old "You're just jealous" statement. Naw, I like hearing about these people's lives....nothing brightens my day more than to know that rich and famous people have more problems than I do. there are plenty of artists from philadelphia that i don't pay attention to. furthermore, i don't go to prince.org and click on posts about artists i don't like. further still, i don't read articles about pop stars i don't like. i couldn't tell you the first thing about mariah carey, usher, beyonce, missy elliot, or any other stars i don't particularly like. obviously you stop to read the articles and threads and you must watch the extra nd access hollywood segments. i don't even think i know as much about britney as you do and i like the girl, lol.

smile Yep, you're a Britney Fan....only they can use the old "why waste your time on an artist/celebrity you don't like" response. Makes life just a little more sweet and fair. biggrin

smile Hey, whatever floats your boat. I don't own any of her music, so I couldn't tell you any of the songs on her albums, except for the one's that are music videos. So, if that is considered 'paying attention' to her, than almost everyone on the planet has been guilty of 'paying attention' to someone they didn't like, whether they be a celebrity, the school bully, or an annoying neighbor. If you acknowledge that person's presence, you are technically 'paying attention' to them, until you chose to ignore them, which is easier said than done. In fact, you're guilty of it now, because you are paying attention to me even though you don't agree with anything I'm saying. I will say that I did like "Toxic", soo damn catchy and the video was fun. I'm not a fan nor am I a hater, just unimpressed. I hate when people get more credit than they deserve....I've been like this since grade school when we had to do those stupid group projects. There was always someone in the group that didn't do anything, but still got an equal amount of credit for the completed work. That pisses me off to no extent. It just tweaks my nipples that she is making more money than singers that I've seen in bars and on sidewalks, who are attractive, write and play their own songs, and still have that spark that is worthy of a record deal. She has a nice personality, but that's about it. She looks average; She dances average; and her voice isn't good enough to make it past the judge's table at American Idol. But, this is just my opinion of the her.

Why waste your time and energy on a person you don't agree with? See above statement to answer this redundant question. I also mentioned in that statement that I don't own any of her albums.....next.
