Here's an order to go with; Music of My Mind Talking Book Innvervisions Fulfillingness' First Finale Songs in the Key of Life These next 4 are also cool but see how the first 5 sit with you first and whatever you do, stay away from the many "best-of" cd's Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants Hotter Than July In Square Circle and the Jungle Fever soundtrack.

Ohh, what a sonic journey you're about to venture into...Stevie's best material is always very necessary. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I have been considering this same thing recently.. I don't have "Music of My Mind", but I prefer Innervisions to Talking Book, I enjoy "Hotter than July" even more than both of those, and if you want a double album, his most popular one is Songs In the Key Of Life. Depends on the kinds of songs you like.. I would suggest Songs first.. As for the best of compilations, I have the 2-cd with the white cover which is quite good, and Natural Wonder (live) is pretty good too. For all his "hits" I would pick the 2-cd with white cover.. for an album, I would say Songs in the Key of Life. Hope this helps!

Hey with all the talk of Stevie going on within these two threads...it should be noted that yesterday(May 13th) was Stevie's 54th birthday...Happy Belated Sir Stevie(as I now call him....yeah I know it's a British thing to do but....)

I would personally start from the beginning of his 70s catalog and when he started producing himself (Signed, Sealed & Delivered) and work your way until the present. Not to overlook his stuff from the mid to late 60s, but that really wasn't the true essence of his artistry due to other people producing him.

Absolutely, these are the essentials, particularly Songs... Hotter than July is okay too. Has Happy Birthday, which I now sing instead of the original. Check this song out at:
