EvilWhiteMale said: VinnyM27 said: Wow.....you met...Jackie "the Jokeman" Martling! Where...how? Where was Robin? I met him back stage at the DFP 2000 in Jersey. We were on break from videotaping the performance and he just walked by our table and said hello. Shook our hands and everything. He was a real cool guy and so down to earth. I don't really think Robin was an alternative music fan, so she wasn't there. I met Howard backstage also, but he was kind of a dick. Despite all the political arguements, I used to think you were a good guy but now you suck. My list: He-Man, Hordac and Barbie at this Mattel Chirstmas promotion at the mall in the mid eighites. I saw Adam West through the window of Blockbuster when me and my mom went to go get his signature in the mid-eighties. He was there for the video release (or rerelease) of "Batman the movie" to capatlize on the big "Batman" movie the same year! Anyway, my mom told me that it wasn't the "Batman" in the big movie, it was the one that had a tv show. Well, I didn't even meet Adam West! Nothing! I got nothing! Get a job in video production with a big company in NYC or LA. You'll meet tons. Not very surprised to hear Howard was a dick, considering the fact that was a year after his seperation and he thought (and still thinks) he is better than everyone. Thanks for the story. In the past, Robin has gone to DFPs but maybe she skipped that one.

I met Dennis Rodman when I was 8 years old at the Detroit Auto Show. He had terrible acne and hardly uttered a word when we shook hands and had our picture taken together. Most of them I've met, and there were a few almost met:
Darryl Strawberry Ron Darling David Cone Rafael Palmeiro Will Clark Andre Dawson (actually we were trying to avoid him, scary dood) Greg Maddux Orel Hershieser Keena Turner Ronnie Lott (really cool and fine) Greg Louganis Joan Collins (well not formally, she was staring at me in a bookstore, which freaked me out, and I just walked past her not realizing who she was, then remembering she was in town performing in a play.) Don Cheadle (more like eye-contact and I waved to him on the other side of a door. Only wished I could have gotten close enough to talk to him) Terry McMillan Davey Jones Ledisi Third Eye Blind (numerous times, not just meeting but hanging out) Tony Thompson of Chic En Vogue Printz Board (played trumpet and keyboard from Nikka Costa's tight band) waved at Nick and Simon from Duran Duran (during an autograph signing that we couldn't get into) "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I just recently saw him at my job and we were like hey what are you doing down here and what is going on? He's still playing around town. He's getting married again soon. Yes, I did check Kirk out at the store. They were off the hook. I also checked out Larry when they were (Kirk,Morris, Mike Scott) at Electric Fetus here in Mpls and Prince had Mani and another person video the performance with one of the those computer cam's. So that he can see it live. From wherever he was at.

Chaka Khan-When I used to work backstage in the Apollo as a cleaner when I was in junior high, she's somebody I misunderstood as a BITCH but she's sooo damn the opposite.
Patrice Rushen & Brenda Russell-They passed by our high-school and made lectures on melodic structures and basics on how to play the piano, how to deliver chordal notes and what not. It was really a cool experience. Millie Jackson & her daughter Keisha-In NJ's airport, she's a down-right-home lady. Like your cool aunt who would cuss in front of you yet she comes across as someone with knowledge and deep wisdom. Eddie Griffin-In NJ's airport too, he's not the ignorant mofo ya'll seeing in the movies at all. He's pretty different in person and could handle a very intelligent conversation. Anita Baker-It was 21 years ago, I was couple o' months old lol I have this picture of her holding me with my mother standing next to her in some concert's backstage. Miki Howard-Didn't talk to her becoz she looked like she needs privacy but she came into this clothing store and she looks betta than when she was younger IMHO, and yes she got back to her big hair lol. Heavy D-A very beautiful brotha, inside & out. Bless him!

Bill Cosby William Peter Blatty('The Exorcist' author) Dave Chapelle George Clinton Bootsy Collins Bernie Worrell Gary Shider Jerome Brailey Franklyn Ajaye Kevin Eubanks Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten Dori Caymmi Pat Metheny Jaco Pastorius - about a year before he died. I was pretty naive, so I walked up to him after a show at Blues Alley and talked to him for a minute about His fretless Bass playing, and got his autograph...I didn't realize until much later how "on the edge" he was during this period..I'm glad I had a pleasant meeting! if he had been feeling differently that night, he might've taken my head off!! Dang I forgot a few:
Tom Morello (He and RATM won a couple of Bammies awards. At the time I wasn't that familiar with them, but after meeting him I started to listen to their music, which led to Audioslave. He was really down-to-earth) Money B from Digital Underground (He kept eyeing me at the Bammies and I guess he figured I was going to go over and join the crowd. That's ok, he had enough women around him. I just grinned and kept walking) Kirk Hammett (unfortunately it was after my Metallica phase (which was really short), so I didn't appreciate it as much) Bobby Caldwell (I was so mad that I ran out of film, and couldn't take a pic with him, but I cherish the autograph) [This message was edited Mon May 17 20:43:49 2004 by funkyslsistah] [This message was edited Mon May 17 20:44:55 2004 by funkyslsistah] "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
