Loretta Lynn, Van Lear Rose I can't believe it but I am really liking this CD! My roommate is a huge White Stripes fan, and I guess Jack White produced this album. I heard him play it last night and was knocked the fuck out when he said it was Loretta "Coal Miner's Daguhter" Lynn. I burned a copy and am really diggin this. Check it out when you get a chance, I think most people will be pleasantly suprised.

It is a great album. However, I know some people who play it 3 times in a row!!! But, I suppose I'd play my favourites that much too. I'm not sure if I heard correctly, and I can't rememeber the track; but I can swear she says "you mother f*ckers" in one of the verses. LOL Am I right? Or perhaps I misheard it twice.

I'm not a country music fan,but I'm gonna get this one. I think it will stretch beyond the boundaries of "country"much like Johnny Cash did. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"

I'm a White Stripes fan and was considering picking up this album just for that reason. I admit I'm pretty ignorant to Loretta Lynn's past music, but with all the hype I'm tempted to buy it! ...:...Must I become naked?
No image at all? Shall I remain upright? Or get down and crawl?...:...

I just bought it today and I can't wait to throw it on my walkman on the way home from work...this is the first Loretta album I've ever bought, and I'm really excited to see how the White Stripes sound matches with someone like her. I have a feeling I just bought one of my favorite albums of the year today....

"Van Lear Rose" is a brilliant album. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

I listened to most of the album on the way home from work tonight, and I was really really pleased with it. My favorite thus far is "God Makes No Mistakes/Women's Prison" (the two songs run into each other, right?) - that's some deep stuff right there. I'm amazed at how strong Loretta's voice is - there's hardly a sign of age in her voice at all, and the woman can still seriously belt.
And it takes a while to get used to the White Stripes guitar sound over LL's hillbilly belting, but once it settles in, it's like when someone gets their chocolate in yer peanut butter - hey, tastes great! I highly recommend this album - get it now, before you get sick of hearing everyone talk about it over the next few months.

She's my cousin, you know. I know right where Van Lear Kentucky is, too... my grandparents lived near there for years and years and years. In fact, my grandmother used to babysit Crystal Gale on occasion. Me thinks I should listen to this album.
