Prince fans on J.Lo I'm curious to know what you Prince fans think about Jennifer Lopez. Do you think she will become legendary in the category of Janet Jackson and Madonna? The girl can't sing, but she is attractive, which is why she is up there, and if they did it for Janet Jackson and Madonna, why not Jennifer Lopez????? I like her in a wierd sort of way because I don't think she has any real talent, but just something about her like Janet and Madonna that captures mass audiences. I like to watch her movies, which is when I like to see her best...What do you think?

You know someone else told me that she's really dissing Puffy in I'm real and ain't if fuuny, but don't you think that sometimes they just make up songs and relate them to other hits, while also tieing in their personal life into into it just to make it sell? She doensn't even write her own songs, and Ja wrote some of the lyrics also. I think it's just a show to put on, and from her point of view, I think she doesn't realize that people would see it as a diss to Puffy, but then again, the fact that she goes along with it just makes it look bad I guess.

HURRRRRL!!! overall, I'm glad she's making her mark & putting it down for Latinas, but I'm SO ready for her to take a long vacation...

Over-eager.
Loved that song PLAY though. But that was written in SWEDEN. And that country is hot when it comes to producers (BackStr Boys, Britney, uhm not such hot artists though) A lot of musicians moved there back in the day (Don Cherry f.i.), helping the music scene there to thrive (is that the right word for it?) Neneh Cherry grew up there. Anyway Jennifer Lopez. She is a smart silly girl. Tuf as a rock, as she knows how to get to the top (Hamsters do NOT agree on her taste in men, though). But good for her. The Cell was the funniest movie I have seen in ages. And Play I bought a a cd-single; the actual BUYING was a low point in my life though ("Uhm, could you wrap it up, please. Is is a present....")

She doesn't really sing, she whispers. But although I do sing along her tunes at times, what she does best is act when she's not singing or dancing. [This message was edited Mon Mar 4 22:52:28 PST 2002 by purpleleaf7]

I don't know why, but I love her so much! She has a great look!! She's increadibly beautiful. She's a good actress, but such a lousy singer, but she did it anyway!! She's both number 1 in singing AND acting...

I'm not a huge fan of J-Lo,but I gotta admit, those songs she did with Ja Rule are kinda catchy.Vibe magazine suggests that they should just become a recording duo.

They would give new meaning to the term, "rat's ass", 'cause he looks like a freakin' rat and she, well you know...
Can't believe I watched (or rather fast-forwarded through) "Money Train" just to look at her... That chick Ashanti, who duets with his ratness is hot as hell though... My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

PFunkJazz I feel u.
Great booty, no doubt. Her voice? Lite as a willowy whisper on a spring day, u cant hear it. I bought her first and took it right back it was so weak with maybe one cut that i dug, I felt embarrassed to keep owning it. The second album they juiced up and went back to the Planet Rock days, the second album was actualluy more worth it then the first, the production is funky , hittin and slammin. Yeah, Play was good too and that other one that came out right after that, but they be chargin 8 bucks for the singles! By the time its over you bought the album 4 times over! Singles cost too much these days! whatsup with the video Suge Knight supposed to have on her true or not? peace!

Her acting is kinda cool, I loved her in Selena- I thought she conveyed a true sweetheart personality.
But her power? Its in her dance no doubt. Staying power? uhhhhh.....we'll see but I doubt it will be on Janet's level by the time its all over even tho J cant sing either. peace!

hasn't every song she's come out with since her breakup with Puffy, been about him? Anyway...don't believe the hype. Even if she's dissin him...he still gets paid because she still sampling the hell out of him and his music. 'Aint It Funny' is just a remix of Craig Mack's 'Flava In Ya Ear"..which Puff produced...not to mention all the other puffy-isms she samples. I don't recall a single song without something from Puff. Then again...I ain't buying her albums.....
J Lo, IMO...used Puffy big time. She got into the video biz because of his invite for a dance breakdown. She got her first album & deal because she was his woman. So once she got in a position to be a star on her own...she didn't need him anymore. He was used up. All at the time that he needed her most. While that type of chick ain't my flava, I will say this....she's quite pretty, has THE prototype ass (HEAR ME LADIES...love your figures as they are...nice & thick!), and can sing a little bit. Now while I prefer her acting, I must admit that I don't pass up many opportunities to check out the bootay. At least she can sing better than Britney and Madonna...and looks better. Otherwise...BAH! ______________________________________

Depending on your culture and gender, your perspective on Jennifer Lopez AKA J.LO AKA Puffy's X AKA Mrs. Judd will with out a doubt be different, somtimes to the extreme. All of remarks about her singing ability, or lack there of as some put it, her booty being her only good ASSet, and her clothes being less than impressive, are all based on what value you place on her pressence in the the world of Entertainment. As for me being a Latina, I will say this: To many Latina's Jennifer Lopez represents something more than just another Pop Star...she is an example of some one who made it to the top of a system that is run by white males. As a female and a minority, who not only made it, but has surpassed many of her non-minority fellow collegues in the Entertainment industry, it makes "us" proud to see her succeed. Yes, I will acknowledge, she does not have an impressive voice; but then again in Entertainment, only a handful have a truly GOD given voice, she does how ever accomplish her goal of ENTERTAINING me...and I am grateful to ANYONE who can produce a smile on face and make me DANCE. Yes, I agree, I will not pay 100 dollars for a jogging suit with her name on it, but the fact that when I walk into to Macy's and I see non-Latina's who CAN afford to drop bills on a joggin suit with her name on it, buying those items, that makes me proud.I haven't liked all her movies, but the fact that there is so many for me to choose from and pick what I like and what I don't, is a testimate to the type of career she has established. Bottom line, the women is an Entertainer and she is doin her thing..World Wide, on all levels...will she thought of as a Madonna or Janet? NO, but she will be remembered for creating her own legacy, one of the first of it's kinds, perhaps never to be matched again. A Latina, a minority from modest beginings, who has had careers in TV/Dance, Movies, Fashion, Music, and soon to come...yes, a Make-up line. She might not excell in being the BEST in each catagory...but she is no doubt the BEST at excersising ambition and being diverse. *~*~*~*~*~*~*

I'm feelin' ya on this GLAM LIFE. seriously. See my remarks above.
Of JLo's movies that I've seen: OUT OF SIGHT, THE CELL, WEDDING PLANNER I dug them all and she was the only good thing THE MONEYTRAIN adn ANACONDA. A better record than say, JIM CARREY, any WAYANS flick/show adn any MADONNA flick. Personally, I like her paired up romantically with more Hispanic dudes or Black guys. George Clooney and the dude in WEDDING PLANNER can't handle her sass OR her ass. test

Actually I think she can do as good as Madonna... Because none of them can sing... Madonna didn't write anything on her debut album... J.Lo 'co-wrote' two tracks on "On The 6"... J.Lo is more successful now, than Madonna was this early in her career... And Jennifer looks much better than Madonna *drewl*
So J.Lo's gonna blow up I think she is the next superb*tch, but I guess time will tell... BTW her moviecareer is far above Madonna's... "Out Of Sight" is one of my favorite 'mindless' movies ever... [This message was edited Tue Mar 5 18:34:40 PST 2002 by asanti]

Isn't everything they do based on a sample? The first one they did together sounded Mary Jane by Rick James, and this Ain't It Funny sounds like something else...I can't remember cuz I'm listening to music right now! That's not talent...that's just rippin' shit off, just like Ja Rules's Livin' It Up! Damn Ja, get yo' own shit!!!

In reference to what GlamLife posted, I do not agree that someone's opinion of Jennifer Lopez has anything to do with their cultural background gender, or race. Just because she is someone that the hispanic community can identify with, doesn't mean that she has to be given props for being marketed as any other pop artist from another culture, racial background, or gender. I see her the same as Janet , Madonna, and Britney and will formulate my opinion of her the same way I do for all, while also placing them in the same category. If it is thought that an artist doesn't sing or dance well, I will say so, just as I'd say the same about some of the others. Let's keep it real. I think we'd all be more impressed and entertained by someone who can really dance and sing than by an 'artist' who really doesn't. If it's the determination, beauty, and the fact that she is making a stance in a white male dominated music industry, then that is all that needs to be said about her. With all these products that are being made from American popular culture that mostly use sex appeal, beauty, and now the hot hip-hop vibe to attract audiences, it's hard not to like some of these made up talent anyway, despite whatever race, gender or culture one is from.
