What IF....... What If....THe TIme would have never broke up and all the original members stayed together, atleast through the eighties....what would of happened? I was thinking or should I say fantasizing about this the other day. All the songs Jimmy Jam & Terry wrote, would of been used as TIME songs, (instead of for Janet). Just think,,the TIme could have been a helluva alot bigger they are 2day, had they stayed together and put out new albums every year like P did. P did say the only band he saw as competition was THE TIME. Imagine them doing some of those Janet tunes, but TIME style..
Damn,,I wish things would have panned out differently, who knows what could have happened. peace out "u can b the prezident/i'd rather b the pope" Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!

You know,I always wonder if,maybe,The Time broke up too soon.In 1984,when 'Purple Rain' came out, there were rumors that The Time would go on their own headlining tour, with Apollonia 6 as their opening act.Along with their appearance in 'Purple Rain',this would have really exposed them to a wider audience, and they would have gotten bigger and bigger. It was actually silly of them to break up at the height of their popularity.
When they finally re-formed in 1990,the thrill was gone.Their "time" had come and gone.'Pandemonium' is a decent album, but it would have fared better if it had been released in,say,1985. But maybe I'm being unfair. As far as Morris,Jesse, and Jellybean were concerned, the band was already "over" when Jam and Lewis were fired. So,maybe in 1983,Prince should not have fired them.He should have allowed them to produce other acts, and many of those great songs (like Alexander O'Neal's "Innocent") would probably have been saved for The Time.Hell, perhaps Jesse would have saved "Free World" for The Time,as well. | |
