Sly and the Family Stone

They were a little before my time... I heard the music first run but I was a little kid and had no $$ or any say on what station played on the radio...

But I just want to thank Prince for a giving shout out to them on Musicology. I Went to their website. I HAD NO IDEA THEY HAD THAT MANY HITS!!! They were da Bomb!!!!!

There is more than the hits, just like with Prince's music.
If U get all the original albums ,especially "Stand!","There's a riot going on"
& "Fresh" U'll find so much more on that than any greatest hits package may offer.
Sly Stone is in my book probably the most soulful singer that ever was.

The boxer shorts are interesting to but a Sly thong? ewww.

Manki said it best but I'd also like to add that you should watch the Woodstock footage to try to get an idea of the energy that was going on.

Yes, oh yes, Sly and the Family Stone were da bomb.

Some of his solo albums are equally mindblowing, they're definitely worth seeking out.

Someone here posted a rumor about hearing that he'd done ghost work on Nikka Costa's "Everybody Got Their Something," whose hook resembled the one in Sly's "If You Want Me to Stay."

Don't know how true that is, given her producer's immense talent. But, that would be cool.

http://www.slystone.com/

SUPPOSED to go live May 23rd.

Been watching it for a year now, so, don't get ya hopes up.

Four years ago, there was a kid online who had a fan site for Sly. He managed to get in touch with Sly and flew out and did an interview with him. It USED to be online, but I can't find it anywhere anymore.

All I remember from the interview is that Sly played some new music for this guy, and the interviewer said it sounded great, very much like his old stuff. But yeah, he's a recluse in California somewhere.

Sure hope he's got internet and knows that he's SORELY missed.
