Andre 3000 - poser? I saw this picture on a news stand
and I wondered has anyone actually ever seen Andre play ANYTHING live? There were several shots of Andre posing with a guitar in that layout. I'm just wondering if its for asthetics or what? Who's seen him play?

I saw him play...on TRL, last year...he played "hey ya"...said it was the first chords he ever learned...it was hilarious...he obviously still doesnt know how to "hold" a guitar...I mean he knew how to hold it, but it didn't look natural...so he looked pretty awkward.
to answer your question, is he still a poser? yep The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

Guy is just doing his thing. He's got skills. Don't be hating on him cause he's talented.
There is room for everyone at the top. People always comparing him to Prince on the board. Just enjoy his music and quit comparing. Says on his lp he plays. He may not be good but he plays.

I believe in an article about Andre playing Hendrix it was mentioned that he played guitar but would not attempt to play Hendrix's licks in the movie (as if he could)

He's been taking lessons from the guy from Cameo. On the last OutKast tour, his bus was just him, the Cameo guy and someone else. I think it's cool that he started out as a straight up rapper and now he's turning into more of a musician.

yeah, hes a poser. he plays a bit on the love below album though, but hes prob not a natural, i wouldnt be surprised he he pro-toolsified his playing to make it better in the studio. but i wanna know why he never even has a band when he performs hey ya anywhere, you would think that might be something he was looking to do but i guess not.

I think because Andre just recently picked up the guitar a few years ago that he may be hesitant to play live. Shoot, I was onstage playing rhythm guitar and singing lead in a rock band after only knowing a handful of chords, and I was pretty nervous. It's a little nerve racking to play in front of people when you first pick up an instrument, and he might be waiting until he's more comfortable with the guitar before playing in shows.

are you the same person who asks if anyone has ever seen Prince actually play a sax or a trumpet? "Pedro offers you his protection."

first time i saw andre credited was for the goodie mob's second album on the song black ice, which i think was back in 97/98. if he isnt confident by now, hes never gonna be.

I was thinking he started playing around the 'Stankonia' period. If he's been playing since 97/98, then you're right, he needs to either play or stop using the instrument as "photo-shoot decor".

I don't think he's fronting at all. I've read several interviews with him where he talked about not only playing guitar, but saxophone and a couple of other instruments. Dre, also talked about studying composition at Julliard. So, I wouldn't laugh to hard, I'm thinking Dre is still blooming as an artist. AND yeah, supposedly that is him on "The Love Below" didn't yall hear him hack that note in the solo for "Take off you cool"? :p

Why is everyone acting like it takes 3 months to be a perfectionist at an instrument? Not everyone is born a damn genius or prodigy.
