It's better than Lulu's version, but it doesn't hold a blowtorch to the original.

Isley Bros - Summer Breeze(not sure who originally sung it)
George Benson - On Broadway(The Doors)

Seals & Crofts did "Summer Breeze" first. "On Broadway" is originally by the Drifters, written by Leiber, Stoller, Mann and Weil.

oh ok..thanks

I know I'm at least 1 out of 14 by mention Whitney's "I Will Always love you" over Dolly's. wink Check out some of these covers, because I know most of them were never released as radio singles or videos. Most of these songs for me are just equal in comparison to the original...or just good enough to even be considered. Very few covers can top the original. Some of these songs were completely re-done from the original version, like "Gotta Broken Heart Again". I hated the album version, until Prince completely changed it on the DVD. It just sounds better as a slow jam to me, as did Jordan Knight with "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man." Sorry, Sinead's version didn't do anything for me, and the only reason I liked Prince's version better was because of Rosie Gaines. But, hey, different stokes for different folks. wink

Ok, you claim CA's version of LAV is better simply because she has more vocal talent than Madonna. But a song is not just about whether the artist blows the roof off with it or not. CA didn't sound sexy, piled on the melisma (which the track DEFINITELY did not need, thankyouverymuch) and just plain oversang it, which is her habit.

Mine without a doubt has to be Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends". That song is his, not the Beatles!

The Sundays-"Wild Horses"
one more thing..I won't argue the fact that Whitneys vocals outshine Dollys on "I Will Always Love You", but Whitney could never match the emotion with which Dolly sang it..she cried for Gods sake....It's an unbelievable thing when a songwriter pours their true emotions into their creation..whoever Dolly was singing about...she meant it...

I love the original, and although Kurt Cobain's voice isn't nearly as good as David Bowie's, I like how Kurt's voice sounds on this song a lot better.

Personally, I think you've got the song right, but chose the wrong artist. To my ears, the best version of Wild Horses is by the Flying Burrito Brothers. Mind you, you can't really consider it a cover as the Burrito's version of the song came out a year before the Stone's. I love the Sundays, but their take on the song gets dangerously close to elevator music.

The latter-day Byrds did a cover of Lowell George's Truck Stop Girl that towers over the original.

Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

Ah, you should a live version performed by Mr Costello & Band circa 1979. It's available on the "Armed Forces" reissue. Highly recommended.

At least it was more tolerable than listening to Britney Spears' pre-recorded butcher session on that poor song. What the hell was she trying to do? No one can use that "It's hard to dance and sing at the same time" excuse now, because the chick just had to sing and walk down the damn cake....how strenuous is that? At least Madonna sang "Hollywood" live and did a good job. They should have put Pink instead of Britney. At least then the make-out session would have been followed by Pink and Christina having a bitch-slap session. Now that's entertainment. smile
