Madonna's Re-invention Tour update: the setlist that is being rehearsed this week

The Beast Within Mix (intro)
Vogue
Frozen
Burning Up
American Life
Express Yourself
Hollywood
Into The Groove (featuring a new rap from Missy)
Hanky Panky
Nothing Fails
Deeper and Deeper/Bad Girl
Music
Don't Tell Me
Love Profusion/Crazy For You
Papa Don't Preach
Die Another Day
Mother And Father
Dress You Up
Bedtime Story
Holiday
Like A Prayer
Nobody Knows Me
***NEW SONG***
Imagine (yes,the John Lennon classic!)

Not sure what to think of this setlist.I'm disappointed that songs like "Easy Ride","Justify My Love","Live To Tell" and "Lucky Star" have been removed. And do we really need to hear "Hanky Panky" on this tour?? Oh well, there's still a few more weeks until the tour begins.I'm sure there will be some last-minute changes.

here's an interesting update from a reliable source...

"One of the surprises,as we already announced,is supposedly a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine",while the second is supposedly a NEW SONG!! The new song will appear on the remixed CD (if the remixed CD still gets released) or at least on the live album that Madonna is planning for Christmas .

confuse a live album??

Hopefully "Hanky Panky" is a joke. Nobody likes that song. Then again, a remix might not be bad but if you're gonna go for S&M, why not "Erotica"? Now that would be hot! It doesn't really matter. I can't see her live if I wanted to!

The Beast Within Mix (intro) - OK. MADONNA READING RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURES WILL OPEN THE SHOW ON A DECIDEDLY BLAH MOMENT, THOUGH.
Vogue - A GIVEN
Frozen - A GIVEN
Burning Up - biggrin YAY!
American Life - STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. WAY TO KILL THE MOOD AS THINGS ARE HEATING UP, MADDY!
Express Yourself - biggrin YAY!
Hollywood - THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME
Into The Groove (featuring a new rap from Missy) - THE MISSY RAP WE DO NOT NEED
Hanky Panky - WTF?????!!!!! confused
Nothing Fails - COOL
Deeper and Deeper/Bad Girl - SHOULD BE ON THEIR OWN
Music - biggrin YAY!
Don't Tell Me - COOL
Love Profusion/Crazy For You - NICE MIX OF THE SONGS
Papa Don't Preach - COOL
Die Another Day - WTF?????!!!!! confused
Mother And Father - I LIKE THE SONG, BUT I DON'T THINK MANY DO, AND IT SHOULDN'T BE PRESENTED IN THE COMPANY OF HER TRULY GREAT MATERIAL
Dress You Up - biggrin YAY!
Bedtime Story - biggrin YAY!
Holiday - A GIVEN
Like A Prayer - biggrin YAY!
Nobody Knows Me - AS THE CLOSER??? WTF????? confused
***NEW SONG***
Imagine (yes, the John Lennon classic!) - THIS IS PRETTY STUPID, IMHO.

I didn't see you guys complaining when Cher opened her last tour with a cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" lol

That's 'cause Cher's voice is appropriate for the song. I can see her pulling it off.

I'm not justifying Madonna's decision here, because I think it's a shitty one. "Imagine"? Come on. Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy.

That's very likely. The latest word is that,on some shows, she will perform "Love Profusion" while on other shows, she will perform "Crazy For You".On the early shows of the DWT,she performed "You'll See" instead of "Gone".It'll be interesting to see how the setlist "evolves" as the tour progresses.

I think "Imagine" fits perfectly into her whole anti-war,let-all-love-each-other worldview lol

And if anyone can pull it off,it's Madonna.Wait and see.

It is a clichéed move if anything. And I'm a realist - Madonna will not do the song justice with her vocals (just like she butchered American Pie).

The problem with "Hanky Panky" is....it's just a novelty song.Cute and fun,but not very substantial. Why waste time with a silly song like that, when Maddy could be doing something more meaningful? A setlist that includes "Hanky Panky" but omits a song like "Live To Tell" is extremely flawed.

Well Live to tell is a very pretty song. But hanky panky is a great live song, i think and quite different from the other songs on the setlist. Lots of opportunities for frolicking about on stage. I dunno, i'm probably on my own here. smile

Well,I'm of the opinion that an artist should always stand behind their work, even if it wasn't successful with the public.I know this is supposed to be a "greatest hits tour",but I want to hear the 'AL' songs too.I love that CD,and I think Maddy is itching to perform those songs live.

and I think "Easy Ride" is simply gorgeous and MUST be perfomed on this tour lol

People screamed for "Impressive Instant" even though they probably didn't own the album. But good idea not to release it was a single! I guess "What It Feels Like For A Girl" was more commerical.
