Now this is why I doubt it will happen, then again I could be wrong.

Charlie Wilson as Jimi didn't happen..Wood did a good job but that flick was horrible..here's a quick history..
1983-JET magazine says Eddie Murphy was selected to play Jimi to show the "comical" side of Jimi..(glad that didn't happen)
1985- Jack Hammer, a unknown-Hendrix lookalike-guitarist was set to play Jimi in the flick "The Electric God"..Hendrix estate says NO!!
1993- Larry Fishburne is selected to play Jimi and goes on Jay Leno to promote the notion of potraying Jimi...never happens.
1996- Jeffrey Wright (who played Dr King in the HBO flick "Boycott" and the drug lord in "Shaft" with Samuel Jackson) is picked to play Jimi..never happens.
1999- According to VIBE Magazine,Actor Harvey Kietel is set to make his own movie on the last days of Jimi starring rapper Q-Tip..never happens.
.....Now Andre is in the mix.The Hughes Bros have been planning this since 1995 to make this movie.....I'll believe it when it hits the screen.

WOW! Jeffrey Wright would have been awesome as Jimi....like 7 years ago. He was brilliant in "Basquiat" and I hear he was phenomenal in the stage and TV versions of "Angels in America". He'd make a great Hendrix - bullseye choice - but I think he's pretty much aged out of the role by now, unfortunately....
