My brother recently moved taking all our Beatles collection with him. sad

I want to get them all again but I would hate it if shortly after they released remastered / special editions or something. mad

Are the 1987 versions the only ones out there? Are there plans for re releases in the near future.

I GOT TO KNOW!!! sad

Help! Please please me! lol

I've heard that EMI plan to remaster the Beatles catalogue at some point in the future but as far as I'm aware that's all the information available. Not much help, I know. neutral

Some of their albums were remastered before remastering became a marketing tool , so it isn't always clearly printed on the packaging . From what I can tell by looking at my own CDS, the following are remasters:

Rubber Soul
Revolver
Magical Mystery Tour
Abbey Road
Let It Be
Yellow Submarine (1999 "Songtrack")
Let It Be Naked

Sgt. Peppers- doesnt claim it anywhere in the packaging, but appearantly was done with the others in 87.

Of course, the more recent releases sound much better (louder) than the '87 reissues.
Im not sure about their earlier albums,as I dont care much for them. razz

There's a huge box set that has ALL of their CDs,it costs around $300 for the whole set.I've seen it a few times at Tower Records and I'm tempted to buy it.Not sure if these CDs are remastered or not.Do any of you guys have this set?

Ive never seen that one,but as far as I know,"The Beatles"(White) double album hasnt yet been remastered.Do you know how many albums the set contains?$300 sounds a bit steep.

I ran some little record store back in 93 and we had that huge box set.Think it's oop now.The beatles cd's are still the ones released in 1987.No remastering since.

I bought the anniversary 'The Beatles' CD in, I think 98-ish? Haven't got it with me, but i seem to remember it claimed to be "remastered" though I'm not convinced. confused

Here's what I found

31st October 1988 - "The Beatles Ultimate Collection" -
Catalogue number
BBX 1 (L.P. set) TC-BBX 1 (Cassette Set) CDS 7 91302 2 (C.D. Set).
Whichever format you chose the set included the original 12 studio albums, plus, "Magical Mystery Tour", and the "Past Masters" releases. Therefore for the albums and cassette issues, you would get 14 albums (as "Past Masters" is one double album), and for the C.D. set you would get 15 C.D.'s as "Past Masters" is two separate C.D.'s.
The set was issued in a wooden box with a 64 page glossy book.
Each set included all the albums in new digitally remastered CD versions, with the first four albums in glorious mono.
The distinctive black wooden boxes have been designed for style, durability and easy access with the original front opening roller shutter (like a bureau desk) made from hard-wearing wood composite.
A real bonus to people who already had complete sets, was that empty boxes were available separately with just the accompanying booklet (Catalogue numbers, BOX 1, TC-BOX 1, and CD-BOX 1)
Unfortunately, once again no new tracks, and nothing that made the asking price an essential purchase, except so nice to have everything housed so handsomely and of course, as the Past Masters were included ... you have The Beatles entire output within."

However, some claim that the CDs in the box are the 1987 versions and only some of them are remastered. sad WE WANT THE TRUTH mad

I was naive enough to buy that set without researching it. They are the same 1987 studio albums packaged in a nice box. That's about it. No (good) remastering that I could discern, so I sold it on eBay.

I strongly advise you to wait until these are 24-bit remastered - because they WILL be sometime in the next few years.

Exactly. That's what's stopping me from buying that box set.I know that, eventually, they will remaster each album and add bonus tracks if possible.I just wish they would hurry up though.

there are 3 CDs currently available in remastered form:

Let it Be... Naked

Yellow Submarine

&

The Beatles #1's. (Hits collection).

All of their original CD releases HOPEFULLY will see the light of day in remastered versions in the coming years. They currently sound like crap.

Just about every year they slowly but sure release new and remastered stuff. But I dont think their gonna remaster their entire catelog in a year.. so If I were you I would just get the stuff back.. A lot of places like Best Buy run sales on their cd's for like 9-11.00 dollars..

The only two remastered cd's so far I can think of is: Yellow Submarine and Let It Be Naked.. and honestly Those demo cds are the best ure gonna get so their remastered also.

The songs on the 'Let It Be... Naked' and the 'Yellow Submarine Songtrack' albums are basically REMIXES rather than remasters.

Its evidently more obvious on the 'Let It Be... Naked' album because huge chunks of Phil Spector's production just isn't there anymore. However, its just as jarring at times on the 'Yellow Submarine Songtrack' album.

The opening bars of the remixed 'All You Need Is Love' sound nothing like the original on the 'Magical Mystery Tour' album. Instead of sounding brassy and cartoonish, they sound mellow and smooth - like the theme to Coronation Street.

I can't believe how chopped up everything is on the 'Let It Be... Naked' album. What they did to 'Don't Let Me Down' is criminal. A completely wasted opportunity.

Nah, The Beatles 1 is not digtially remastered.. thats a fact.. Compare Elanor Rigby on the 1's to Elanor Rigby to Yellow Submarine (digital remastered version)

The 1's havent really been touched, other than being in stereo and that standard remastered format for cd audio.. not digitally remastered at all.

I still think the 1987 remasters sound prety good...They arent as loud as the more recent releases, but digitally remastered according to the packaging. They definitely sound better
than un-remastered CDs from that time period, such as most of Prince's.
