Forget Andre 3000, Beck is the Prince of today. Every Beck album sounds different than the next. ALL show musical growth and contain GREAT songs. Sea Change , Becks latest , was a masterpiece. Beck is a masterful songwriter, singer, musician, and producer who, like Prince, doesn't give a rats ass what the mainsteam is doing. Maybe. Then again, most of us want the Prince of yesterday.

Why even compare him to Prince? Honestly.. Beck is innovative enough to stand on his own without a comparison to any other artist. Cause He isnt like anyone else at this point in his career.. EVERY SINGLE ALBUM has been different and ahead, regardless of if u liked it or not.

Now, if ure going based on talent.. then yes, Beck can do it all.. He would blow andre out of the water.. vocally, and musically.. and this is comin from a man who loves Andre

I love Beck dearly and have loads of bootlegs and all his official releases, but he's not Prince.
He has his own little musical adventures.

I agree! Beck is diverse, talented, and exciting. I always look forward to his releases. He's truly innovative!

still don't agree, because really, Prince is an original and so is Beck. There are really few similarities, except for some of Midnite Vultures, which featured a lot of Prince influence. Beck is much more diverse than just that album, though, which I think a lot of orgers just don't realise.

I agree most do want the Prince of yesterday but what about the Prince of tomorrow or the present, everyone needs to move forward and experience new stuff and I'm sure Prince still has much more to offer and possibly even better stuff than of recent, excluding Musicology which is on high rotation in my car and at home WHY SHOULD I DO THAT, WHEN I CAN DO THIS

Anyone else catch Beck with the Flaming Lips on TV last night? It was on PBS' "Austin City Limits". One whole hour of uninterupted sweetness... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I would agree. Let Beck be Beck, Me'Shell be Me'Shell, D'Angelo be D'Angelo, Van Hunt be Van Hunt, Dre3K be Dre3K, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. They're all good or great in their own ways. Prince is a one-of-a-kind. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

They didn't say Beck was the "new Prince" because they sound alike...but because they have the same scope of talent and same type of musical attitude when it comes to what they do next. Similarities in musical sound aren't even part of the original argument, so no need to disagree on that reason... By the way, Beck is indeed the closest thing to what Prince was/is...as Prince was the closest thing to what Stevie Wonder was...I admire then equally.

your serious? lmfao he aint no prince hell prince aint no prince anymore! Andre 3000 is close but he aint no prince either! The only way u gon get another prince is if u invent a time machine and time warp your ass to 1984 and when u invent that time machine Call ME CALL MY NAMMMMME!

I don't care how innovative Beck is, I don't like his material and I wouldn't breath his name in the same breath as Prince. If you're going to make this generation's Prince in terms of "range and scope" then actually Bjork is this generation's Prince.
