Andre 3000 wore FUBU???? He ain't got shit on Prince. Don't get me wrong-I like "The Love Below" and Andre is a talented man. But to hear people try to line him up as the "next Prince" ,the new innovator or whatever rings empty. The fact that he used to wear FUBU (and not that long ago) helps to point this out. Follow me...
Andre 3000 used to just be another b-boy wearing his jerseys, baggy pants, chains, etc. On the inside of "The Best of Outkast" he is decked out in full FUBU gear. The point being that, whether Andre started dressin' like a freaky funk artist on his own or someone pushed him in that direction, he is a somewhat of an unoriginal poser. At the very beginning of Prince's career he was wearin' bikini briefs and mixin' the funk pop with metal guitar. It came from inside of him and it was't as derivative. Again, I am not saying Andre 300 ain't cool. He just isn't original. He hasn't made his own sound yet-just imitated others very well. I'm sure Prince wore Levi's or Toughskins at some point in his life. The point is that at some point Andre decided to do his own thing. His costumes have shown some imagination and so does his music. It doesn't matter when nor why he decided to do it. In fact, I've got a lot more respect for Andre's path.
Prince was a nobody seeking attention when he started dressing and acting like he did. He never had the street cred (whatever that's worth) nor the success Andre enjoyed by fitting in. If you followed Outkast over the years, you'd realize Andre's evolution was gradual and that he took a big chance by stepping out of the "normal" hip-hop image. He and Big Boi, who I credit for having enough vision and the patience to go with it, had a lot of money and a young career at stake when they took the leap as early as their second album. Maybe it was planned, but it's still genuine. You can tell.

Andre came into it later on and well, it just doesn't seem that original. Basically, everything Prince did was original, from the Farrah Fawcett hair style, the bikinis, and the ass-out pants. Who else could be that created. I mean, even the diagonally buttoned pants were original. The man created, not imitated. peace Baby, Baby, Baby...what's it going 2 b?

I doubt that Andre looked to anybody else's wardrobe and copied it. Neither he nor Prince were the first to dress outlandishly. The Funkadelics were doing that long before Prince and they're probably not the first either. As for the assless pants: that's not something to brag about. Besides, Chippendales and others made those famous and in better settings.

That's silly that you would doubt someone's musical authenticity based on fashion.
I think in 1994, Outkast weren't just "playing it safe" but actually just doing standard high-quality hip-hop for the time. But even by ATLiens in 1996, Andre was wearing turbans and starting to show individuality. I think he is slowly getting to know (and show) who he is. You could chart Andre's progress on a line graph just like any other artist/human. If he used to wear Fubu it just means he has actually GROWN ALOT into his individuality.

He could have been just want to support FUBU...who knows..... Everyone is influenced by someone.....Andre 3000 was influenced by Prince, Prince influenced by James Brown, etc. etc.

i hate to repeat myself, but...
Do you idolworshippers just sit around thinking of reasons to hate on people you feel are somehow a threat to Prince in some odd way? Newsflash mofos: PRINCE AND ANDRE ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE! SO WHAT if he wore FUBU back in the days. If Prince had came out in blouses rapping, I guarentee he'd have NO career. You guys are FOOLS if you're trying to leave the impression that Prince is the only creative force in the music biz. Prince copies, too, just not from the same sources. Not all creativity is expressed in dress, either. It doesn't make you less of a creative entity. OutKast is a RAP GROUP. There is much lees room for playing outside the lines in rap and becoming successful as there is in pop. Also, WB supported Prince's creativity. In the beginning, Prince looked like everyone else, too. The afro on the 1st album. The perm on the 2nd album. NOT UNIQUE. Dirty Mind was where the wildness started. Stop trying to change history, people. And lay off Andre 3000's overrated ass. He's creative in dress NOW. Let it go.

and chronic...you really need to stop with these idiotic subjects...they make no sense at all... The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.
