Nick Cave's STAGGER LEE Video

Holy moley, I just got Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' video anthology on DVD today and while I haven't watched the whole thing yet, I got a chance to take a peek at one of my favorite Nick songs, "Stagger Lee", before I hadda get ready for work.

Now, this song, it's a little intense. It's from his "Murder Ballads" album, and it's probably more violent and dark than any hardcore gangsta rap tune you could find. The last time I saw Nick & the Seeds in Chicago, he ended the show without playing this song, and then about 15 minutes or so after the lights came up on the house and the majority of the audience filed out of the theater, SURE ENOUGH the lights went down and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds returned to the stage to perform a creepy-ass, sexy, red-lit rendition of STAGGER LEE for those of us who were still straggling around in the theater. I'd never seen or heard of a band doing that before...and with one of my absolute favorite songs of theirs. I was FLOORED.

So this video...I was expecting something kinda gritty like a spaghetti western or an Anton Corbijn video or something - Nick looking all rugged and badass and toting a big ass knife like a sexy psycho beast, something like that....

Um.

In this video, which is about murder and rape and all forms of horrible topics, Nick Cave is wearing a pink t-shirt, and he is performing the song with go-go dancers on either side of him.

MALE go-go dancers.

And by the middle of the video, the stage is full of dirty-dancing MEN.

This is the GAYEST VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN!!!! lol

(and the go-go dancing boys are CUTE CUTE CUTE, might I add, in that scrawny indie rawk boy kinda way drool )

Man...I love Nick Cave. Just like Ann Magnuson, I want a Nick Cave doll.

Anything Nick Cave does is fine by me. I'll have to check this out. Murder Ballads was superb. My favourite NC video is still "Where the wild roses grow" with kylie. Beautiful.

And No more shall we part is a fine, fine album. cool

havent given nick cave much of a try but sade did the same thing during their lovedeluxe tour.....the arena was half empty and it caused a stampede cause everyone who was still in the arena and heard them playing ran back and...

to make matters worse the band sat right at the edge of the stage and with the lack of security everyone darted for the stage.....i was originally on the second level and ended up squashed up against the stage..

and it was ROCKED!!! headbang

(they did jezebel and then exited without saying a word)...
Space for sale...
