its really funny...the song that recently brought me to tears was the Isley Brothers song that Aaliyah remade..."At your Best". It reminded so much of my mom who passed away. She loved Aaliyah's version.

Green Eyes by Erykah Badu....I actually cried at the concert when she sang this. I had just broked up with my boyfriend of 5 years.

christopher cross- sailing

It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Al Green's "Simply Beautiful." That song makes me lose my mind. It's hauntingly beautiful. I love the arrangement, the strings...it's sparse...the lyrics are simple but heartfelt. I just don't know how else to put what I want to say about this song in words. biggrin It just moves me. *swoon*

btw, I always imagine "I'm Still I Love with You" (this whole f'n album kicks ass) as a soundtrack to a romantic movie.

No ordinary world.....Duran Duran

If you asked me to....Patti LaBelle

Love both of them! "Ordinary world" has heped me through alot! "If u asked me to" by Patti Labelle has a gorgeous intro and brilliant middle 8!

Hey, 'NikkiH' I love "I'd die without u" too by Pm dawn!

I love loads of sappy songs and lots of songs remind me of memories and different times etc...like all you guys know here too! We ALL like at least some sappy songs, luckily we ain't afraid to admit it here! It's nice to know that my weird taste in the uptempo doesn't apply in the sad/beutifull ballads! Thanx guys! biggrin biggrin biggrin

"Memories of loving you" and "Broken hearted" -Stevie B. Very, very simple or simplistic but touching all the same!

"Home again" New edition
"I'm still in love with you" New edition
"Forever love" Color me badd

... just realized the last 3 by Jimmy Jam and Terry lewis! These guys can do funk/pop and ballads very well!

YOUR CLOUD BY TORI AMOS

when the river cross
crosses the lake
where the words
jump off my pen
and into your pages
do you think
just like that
you can divide
this you as yours
me as mine to
before we were us
if the rain has to seperate
from itself
does it say "pick out your cloud?"
pick out your cloud
if this is
a horizontal line
that runs from the map
off your body
straight through the land
shooting up
right through my heart
will this horizontal line
when asked
know how to find
where you end
where I begin
"pick out your cloud"
how light can play
and form a ring of rain
that can change bows into arrows
(I found a thrill)
who we were isnt lost
before we were us
indigo is his own
blue always knew this
if the rain
has to seperate
from itself
does it say pick out your cloud

cry

Really? That's odd, it's a very uptempo number. What is it about that one that did it for you?

I wasn't in the best state of mind that night. Feeling down in the dumps and I popped it in my portable CD player.

The beat, the keyboards, lyrics, and the vocals... there's something in them that's full of life. One of the most alive pop songs I've ever heard.

I was so overcome with the feeling of joy, that I started crying. A smile was on my face the entire time.

It's become one of my favorite Björk songs.

It takes courage to enjoy it
The hardcore and the gentle
Big time sensuality
