Andre Fisher Is Looking 4 The Next "Chaka" 4 His "RUFUS REUNION"

Got this from EUR, read this unbelievable shit:

THE RETURN OF RUFUS: The Search For The 'New Chaka' Begins.

by Radioscope/EUR Reporter LaRita Shelby

Andre Fischer

(Apr. 23, 2004) Although Chaka Khan has an open invitation to rejoin her former band, plans are underway for The Great American Talent Search for the next Chaka Khan. There wasn't exactly an official Rufus break up but multi-platinum producer and originating Rufus member Andre' Fischer recalls.

"In essence after the Rufus 'Street Player' album Chaka was headed out the door until they reunited in 1983 for 'Stomping At The Savoy.'"

As Chaka lent her powerhouse vocals to yet another Grammy Award winning solo smash, she went one direction and the band went another. That was not Fischer's intention

"My advice had always been that when Chaka went solo that Rufus would produce her or that we would be involved and always share in our birthright of Rufus," the producer said.

Rufus actually began as the remnants of a 1970s pop group called the American Breed. They later took the name Ask Rufus before settling on Rufus by the time they first recorded with Chaka in 1973. Chaka was spotted in a Chicago nightclub while singing with another local band when Fischer approached her with an invitation to join Rufus. From 1973 to 1983 they charted with hits like "You Got The Love," "Sweet Thing," "Hollywood," "Once You Get Started" and "Tell Me Something Good" to name a few.

As the years rolled on Chaka did her solo stint and all but guitarist Bobby Watson and drummer Andre' Fischer fell out of touch. Bobby and a smaller group performed in Japan while Andre' fled to Paris to produce Brenda Russell. Fischer returned to executive status in the states and produced blockbusters for Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight, Diane Schuur and Natalie Cole's multi-platinum Unforgettable album.

Now it's time to get Rufusized once more says Fischer.

"While we were together we made certain music because of the combination of people and that will always stand. Just because it didn't last a thousand years, it doesn't matter."

Andre' Fischer cites personal and professional stress as a main factor in breaking down the core of Rufus. With time and experience under his belt (and a resume tracking some 44 million in record sales) Fischer is at it again.

"Usually all you need is a rest. You need to be able to get away from it for a minute and then be able to come back."

Rufus fans can expect a revolutionary return, which includes live tours, new music and The Great American Talent Search to find the next Chaka.

Comments from the EUR website about this joke.

Back to the Article » THE RETURN OF RUFUS: The Search For The 'New Chaka' Begins.

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: Andre should try to get the girl who just got booted off of American Idol. She would be an excellent choice, if she has a desire to be part of a band that is already 30 years established, and who's former lead singer has a R&B voice that's second to none. Other than those variables, she could/would help to take Rufus to a whole new level in this hip/hop generation.

Name: Find another singer
Comment: But don't look for the next Chaka. There is only one Chaka and if she won't participate then find a new singer.

Name: sigh...>Gurlfrand
Comment: I AGREE. Jennifer Hudson came to mind as soon as I read this article. She is like a little Chaka, she has the voice, attitude and the hair.

Name: WhataJoke
Comment: There is only one Chaka. He should leave well enough alone! And whoever takes this gig better know that Andre likes to lay hands on women. Just ask Natalie or Chaka.

Name: J-Bax
Comment: Chaka's vocals aren't like they used to be. I saw her in concert in February and her background singers sang more than she did. Check out www.urbanvoicesonline.com under entertainment. In the meantime, since Jennifer Hudson is out of the American Idol competition, give her a shot, because she's hot.

Name: bls
Comment: Andre used to be married to Natalie, but they are divorced, in fact, Nat is working on her third divorce from her current husband, who is a ordained minister.

Name: Sista Classic
Comment: Rufus featuring Chaka, kicked it with the Quincy Jones produced jam "Do You Love What You Feel"

Name: Hey EUR
Comment: Sorry but between Street Player and the CD Stomping At The Savoy. There was the Quincy Jones produced "MasterJam" that featured the classic gem "Do You Love What You Feel". I was one of the original fans that hoped that Chaka would do her solo stuff and still record with the band Rufus. Their chemistry was tight and the band could really play live instruments. Rufus did not need studio tricks. But drugs, ego, falling out of love with members of the crew, and stress got in the way. That said I will always feel everyone in the original group. No one can take Chaka's place but this may be a blessing to Ms. Jennifer. AI tends to make their artists too bland, boring, and safe. Sorry but I wasn't feeling Rueben's 1st single "Flying Without Wings". That song put me to sleep. Every young future Diva should pick up Rufus featuring Chaka Kahn's GHits to learn from the living legends how to create timeless music.

Name: This is a joke and a complete FRAUD
Comment: There is only ONE Chaka Khan. Get a life Andre. Rufus has been over for years dude.

Name: Jennifer Hudson? ROFLMAO
Comment: Jennifer Hudson couldn't hold Chaka Khan's panties. Puleeeeez!

Name: J Love
Comment: In Chaka's bio, she wrote that Andre did get physical with her. I have read the same reports regarding Natalie. Hopefully, he has taken some anger management classes before he signs a new singer. Jennifer does seem like a great choice, but no one can ever compare to the Khan.

Name: Here is your perfect candidate for the job
Comment: One of the few people that can actually fulfill this role flawlessly is Deborah Cox. Deborah hit each and EVERY not of I'm every woman on the Diva's special a few years ago WITH Chaka in the audience. It was great! Problem is that Deborah is a star in her own right and does not need this gig. Oh well, back to square one.

Name: bls
Comment: This has nothing with Jennifer holding any candles to Chaka...what are you talking about? These are just SUGGESTIONS on who Rufus could get to be their next singer. Relax, fool.

Name: NiggaPleeze
Comment: Is this big yellow mothafukka crazy?? He would have to be to think Chaka would wanna be in the same room with him, let alone work with him again. Read Chaka Khan's autobiography "Through The Fire". She mentioned that Andre Fischer %*$aulted her. Hit her like she was a man. He also reportedly beat ex-wife Natalie Cole. His lack of success is a result of the karma he created for himself. No respect for a fukkin woman beater

Name: to Here is your
Comment: I agree with you but Ms Cox has not had a top 40 CD in awhile. The Broadway thing was kewl but she is free now. You may have something there. To the poster that put Jennifer on blast, give it a rest. With time and being around the right people she may do someting. I remember when she first started, boy did she come a long way. And I mean that in a non hater way.

Name: >NiggaPleeze
Comment: Lack of success!?! When was the last time your name was on 44 million CD's? Not defending a man hitting a woman. But there are 3 sides to a story. He, She, & the Truth. I would give this project a listen when it comes out, I miss really good music. I am one of those that think Lil Jon is weak. Make your money, Lil Jon but you won't get a dime from me.

Name: IMHO
Comment: First off, there WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER CHAKA!! Now I can really see Jennifer Hudson doing Rufus being herself. She truly has come into her own and I just hope that she does't fall through the cracks cuz every producer is thinking somebody will pick her up, so nobody ends up doing it. But the problem is Andre Fischer the man/woman beater. Now, unless he has gotten counseling, I wouldn't wish him on Jennifer. But he needs to drop that "next Chaka" thing cuz Chaka ain't dead nor retired!

Name: Boxer
Comment: I think Jennifer Hudson, who is from Chicago, would whup this old dude's asz if he tried some shyt with her. I say put her down for the gig.

Name: Hey
Comment: I don't remember Andre being on ALL the Rufus ft Chaka Albums. I think he was a member early on. True, no one can replace Chaka - but it's a good idea to put Rufus back on the scene with another female lead. I miss their music.

Name: YoShark
Comment: I thought JR Robinson was the original drummer for Rufus Feat/Chaka Khan. I don't remember seeing Andre playing with Rufus in the 70's.I could be wrong!

Name: to YoShark
Comment: John Robinson was not the original drummer for Rufus. Andre was the man. John was a bada.s.s. drummer that hooked up with Rufus for the MasterJam CD and went on to play session work for Quincy Jones. John was all over the Off The Wall project from Michael. If you played in Rufus you had to know what you were doing.

Name: MzTee
Comment: Mr. Fischer is looking for the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There is only one Chaka Khan. As another posted stated, they should just look for a phenomenal singer NOT a Chaka imitation.

I saw Rufus and Chaka in concert in 2001,and she mentioned that they would be doing a reunion album. But Andre was not a part of that tour, and now that he has apparently re-joined the band,I doubt that Chaka would participate. She can't stand him. When Natalie Cole married him in 1990,Chaka supposedly warned her about the type of man he really was.

As far as I'm concerned,Rufus is nothing without Chaka. In the past, they've done albums without her and of course, nobody bought these albums. So their 2004 "reunion" is dead on arrival.

You read about the 1st fest fight between her and Andre right? It was really an ugly moment but ol' girl knew how to let that sick motherfucka have it.

And of course Natalie has her shares of ugly mishaps with him, I haven't read her book yet from discussion with friends who read it, said he used to snatch her at the middle of a crowded room wherever they're, he didn't care. Think White Ike Turner,,,,yeah thats him disbelief

Yeah, I read about those fights!! It's a shame, because I think Chaka would probably like to do a Rufus reunion , but not as long as Andre Fischer is part of it...

You guys have got to read the Natalie Cole book! She was married to Andre from 1990-1995,and that marriage quickly turned sour.Andre was jealous of Natalie's success (remember her early-90s comeback with the 'Unforgettable...With Love' album?).Ironically, Whitney Houston of all people, also warned Natalie not to marry Andre.I guess she had heard some stuff about him too...lol...in any case,Andre is a loser and as long as he is in Rufus,I don't even want Chaka involved.
