I like Vanessa but she has to stop with the Chirstmas albums!

Weren't her last two albums Chirstmas albums (one was solo and one was with a some different artists like Pavoritti)? Are you sure this wasn't five years ago? I really hope she makes a real album. I really agree with your last statement. She makes both great slow songs and hot dance pop.

Well, her version of "What Child Is This?" on A Very Special Christmas 2 was superb. I don't dig much of her other stuff, but I wish her well!

With the Miss America "scandal" that hit back in '83/'84 some might have thought that she'd never overcome the demonization that the American public put her through after finding out that she posed naked in Penthouse some years earlier. But she obviously had the right agent/manager to help her make the right moves, and most of all, the talent to overcome it and thrive. I don't know if some of you remember it, but being put through that type of ringer was sort of akin to the nonsense that Janet Jackson went through with that dumbass Super Bowl debacle.

I'm a huge admirer of Vanessa Williams. Love her "Sweetest Days" CD most (really jazzy).

She has lots of intelligence, talent, and beauty.

nod Great duet with Sting on that as well. I always thought she should really a purely jazz cd. She has the perfect voice for it. The 20th century masters have released a hits dvd for her as well. Has about 5 songs on it. Not bad for only $4.99 either. wink

Her first 2 CDs were off the hook!! She is by far one of the greatest female vocalists, woman can sing. I personally think she is too classy to be considered a diva.

I hope her new CD has better producer than some of her last ones that weren't very exciting.

I bought her debut album in 1988 solely for the song "Darlin I",which I love.

I couldn't find it on Amazon but CDunivrse (which is very good) lists it as gospel and with the same release date. Not much fan faire for this, her first studio album in 7 years. This might not be her. I just checked Allmusic.com and they list the album under her however they list it as rock (it probably isn't a real rock disc, but that suggests pop, R&B). Anyway, there is a different Vanessa Williams that does gospel. Her last album, "Vanessa" from 2002, is on the label Light. "Here We Go Again" is on Light Year. Could be that either people have it wrong that it isn't gospel (more likely) or it could be the other Vanessa Williams.

They just released a collection of her "Love Songs". These collections seem to be released by a lot of R&B artists..excuse me..record labels that R&B artists have been on! It only includes two hits. I never knew she covered "Alfie"?

her next album is an x-mas one..she was on the view pushing her new movie with cedric and said she was just starting work on it..

I wish she would get her groove on and release some awesome dance music again...her voice is perfect for the dance floor..

but oh well, she is loving the mom thing..and i would too if i was getting it from her husband every night..DAMN THAT MAN IS FINE!!!

Another X-Mas album....she must be out of her damn mind! That's three of them after her last studio album. Real fans must be really furstrated or they just give up on a new album. Donna Summer fans have...she's still doing the mom thing and her kids are grown. She never really recovered from it. This is something she should consider.

Loved "The Right Stuff", "The Comfort Zone," and "Work to Do." What I like about her is that she didn't disappear after all that Miss America drama. If anything, it looks like it made her stronger.

When I looked it at on Allmusic.com, they had her name listed with the same exact spelling. Seems strange. This very well could be a Vanessa Williams album considering Allmusic listed it under her and also listed it as rock. It could be that people are saying its gospel becuase they are confusing it with the other Vanessa Williams. Who knows but I think if there was a new Vanessa Williams album out this soon we would have heard something about it.

Then again, Patti Labelle has a new one coming out today and I haven't heard much about it. I got a sample disc with a few songs from it (and a terrible hits medley that contains only a few secs of some songs and has huge gaps in it) andit sounds same old Patti. I would be interested if she got funky or something!
